Home water well problem

Hello,
I have a 400 foot deep home water well. Everything seems to be working fine ie. pressure is holding when not using water, pump turning on and off at proper pressure, plenty of water, etc. Here is my question...at the well head where the cover is on the casing I can hear and feel air escaping around the cover. What can it be? The holding tank is holding pressure, the pump isn't on, everything is quiet except for the air coming out of the hole. Any ideas...

Two things maybe. Are you sure the air is coming out? Not in? If its after the pump stops and then stops after a while it may water rising back up into the sleeve after the pump stops. If you can hear it while the pump is running then maybe its the opposite. Hold a flame near the sound tho see which way the air is going.

How does a home well water system work?

Deep well.
Pressure valve located on front of above-ground-storage-tank will turn pump on-off depending on amount of water pressure inside tank.
When water is consumed inside home, the pressure valve responds to the lower pressure and closes electrical contacts... sending electricity to water well pump located deep underground.
The pump turns on and lifts water through a pipe into the above ground storage tank.
When the tank is full of water, the pressure valve senses the higher pressure and turns off electricity going to pump
Pump shuts off.
There is a one-way check valve on the water line going down to pump, and this keeps water from flowing back down into well.
The above ground tank maintains water pressure for the house.
When pressure is reduced by taking a shower, the pressure valve turns pump on again, and cycle repeats.

My new water pump i installed just like the instructions said won't hold pressure, I have a new foot valve and a flow check valve in the suction line from the well?

Just to confirm that the pressure tank was pre-charged with the tank emptied of water. If water comes out of the air valve, then the bladder is ruptured, and the tank needs to be replaced.

My water system is loosing pressure. The pump runs until it gets to the preset of 50 psi but when it stops, the pressure drops right away. if I shut off the pump, it drops to 0 psi. I checked the pressure...

There is a screened check valve that should be attached to the pick up / suction side of the pump on the very end of the plumbing in the bottom of the well. If you have shut off the water output going to the home / what ever and the pump still drops pressure to zero as soon as it shuts off the shallow well foot valve is stuck open / has failed.

Some systems use both a foot valve and an in-line check valve to prevent the symptom you currently have.

Foot valve example:

More examples:

If this valve has failed... there is nothing to prevent the contents of the pressure tank from dumping back into the shallow well.
I doubt you have a shut off on the pump suction side but if you do once the pump shuts off close this valve. I would bet your pressure tank holds the pressure. If you do not have a shut off valve... just feel for a rush of water in the suction pipe AFTER the pump reaches pressure and shuts off. If your feeling water flow with the pump off and the tank at pressure / loosing pressure the foot valve is bad.

I have a Sprint HTC Hero. When I try to power it up, it gets stuck on the screen that displays "HTC" and will not go any further. I have tried taking the battery out and hard reseting by...

1. When the phone is off, press and hold the Home and Power button until the phone comes on. 2. You should see a little icon with an exclamation mark. Now press and hold the Home and Power button again. 3. You should see some instructions and some options. Use the trackball to select Factory reset. This will erase all your phone's data, but if you're in the cloud (ie your contacts are with Google), you should be fine, you'll just have to reconfigure everything (ie mail accounts, keyboard calibration, home screens, app downloads and preferences).

Was away on vacation, shut water supply off, got home and went to do a load, but forgot to turn water back on. Got h and f error code, now door will not unlock, cannot reset with holding the cancel button,...

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

FH error is displayed when the control detects no water entering the machine. To clear this error press and hold the PAUSE/CANCEL button twice. You can then check if the water inlet valve is fine and not clogged with foreign particles, try to clean it. If the water inlet valve appears to be fine then check if the pressure switch hose is properly connected to the pressure switch & tub. Please get back to me if you have any questions.

The owner's manual and installation manual details exactly how this is suposse to be install. You shoul have a pressure going to the heater of 14 WC (Water Column - more on that elsewhere). if you have already installed a high pressure regulator, then all you need is to send a line from that high pressure line closer to whwre your heater is installed, at that point you will install a low presurre regulator and should be able to adjust the pressure required by your heater. That is what they call a two stage gas regulators installation

My dishwasher leaves a fine white chalky residue on the plates. What causes this problem. How do I fix this problem?

Generally this happens when you have a very low water pressure in your home or the pump in the dishwasher is getting weak. Check your pressure first in your home and if good the pressure feed pump is getting weak and needs to be replaced

Everstar portable AC not cooling, what do I do?

Same thing happened a few weeks ago. My wife said " its not cooling". I read the manual and it says., Clean filters ...we did and hello. works fine. She was so frustrated she was going to take it back. These filters accummulate dust fast. So check there first. Hope this helps.

I would lkike to know where to get replacement filters or an extension exhaust duct.
