To access the door screws on MOST microwave ovens, you need to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacement

This can be peroformed with the door in place, or with the door removed. If you have any questions, please post back with your complete model number and let me know. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: loose door handle

DON'T remove the cover yourself unless you fully undertand the SAFETY issues involved in working inside a microwave oven. A microwave oven is possibly THE MOST DANGEROUS common consumer product to service. Usually with these doors, the latching parts tend to loosen up at times, thus requiring some re-adjustment and tightening. Sometimes they get a bit warn and require to be replaced. The handle by itself about $40, apparently GE doesn't know how to make a door handle that will hold up for more than a year or so. I just bought a new door off of eBay for $20 + $20 shipping ... a deal compared to the $135 + tax and shipping that most of the web sites want! All you need is a phillips screwdriver and a 5/16" socket. To get to 3 screws that anchor the TOP hinge, simply remove the vent grill (open the door and remove the 2 white screws that hold it in place). To get to the 2 screws that anchor the BOTTOM hinge, simply remove the 6 screws that hold the grey bottom pan of the microwave in place. The pan will swivel down, remaining attached in the back panel. Once you've removed the 5 hinge screws, the door should pull pretty much straight out. Reverse the procedure with the new door, which should come with hinges attached. Could be that the place the spring sits in is a little broken, so theres no stop for the spring. open it up and see if there's anything you can do with it, try some epoxy putty maybe. Good luck

SOURCE: Microwave installation

Hi there - just figured out how to get mine out. Here is what I did. There are two screws at the top under the faceplate. There is brace on each side with 2 screws on the bottom and one facing out. Remove the two that face out. Next look under the unit and there is a brass looking cover with 2 more screws. Mine had writing on it about servicing professionally. Remove that two screws, the two power connections and the unit should slip right out.

You put a mounting plate on the wall behind where the unit will be mounted. Then the microwave hooks onto the bottom of the mounting plate and you swing it up to the cabinet above it. Then you must screw 2 mounting screws through the floor of the cabinet above into the bracket on top of the microwave.

Kenmore microwave model 721 loose door

Loose bottom hinge - slide the microwave to the edge of the counter, and look at the bottom hinge - you may have to remove something to see clearly. Its likely you are missing a screw or the screws have worked themselves loose.

How do you tighten the handle on the microwave JKP78G0K2BG

You need to remove the screws that are holding the frame of the door to gain access to the rear of the handle assuming that the handle is not stripped out to start with.

Kenmore mirowave # 72162643200 handle is broken

I have the exact same problem and the cost for a tech to replace the door is $80 less than buying a new one. They have to remove the unit from the cabinets and pull off the exterior box to unscrew the door hinge. Mine is only 3 years old. I also bought a new oven range. Never really use it. Decided it was time to use the self cleaning. It did not work. $280 to put a new board in. 4 months later I went to clean it and again it did not work. The f*^ing thing only cost $500. Decided Easy off will have to do. Kenmore s*&ks

As for the door... I very CAREFULLY used super glue/ gel and it did the job!

Microwave installation under cabinet, no rear wall

Your model weighs 41 pounds empty.

That - plus maybe adding another 8-10 pounds for safety - us what your installation needs to be able to handle.

I would think the average cabinet could handle that, but it may be better to add a small steel plate or large washer surrounding the mounting screws to help disperse the weight load.

The owner's manual describes the installation kit you can use to mount it in a cabinet or in the wall, etc. That may be helpful.

If you don't still have your manual you can download it here.

Microwave installation

I'm a kitchen remodeler, and I've seen this problem with Kenmores (so it probably exists with some other brands too. The ones I have seen have the typical bolts through the top, but there's more. The flat mounting plate on the wall has an protruding piece that fits well into the body of the microwave when the unit is slid into place. It has a threaded hole in the end of the extension, and the sheet metal screw or bolt that goes into this is causing your anguish. To access this, you must remove the top front louvers (maybe some other trim plates as well). You'll eventually find the bolt that unscrews with a horizontal screwdriver.
