Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

The back light on the 17" monitor of my new,(almost 6 months old)Laptop, just dropped by at least 50%, while on screen saver for about a five minute period. I use it very little, I probably turn it on about three or four times a week, for a few hours each time, what could be the reason?, and what can be done to fix it?.

The monitor is usually governed by the power settings. It will drop after a certain period of non user interface in order to be energy star compliant out of the facotory. Use F1 to enter help and type in power settings, this will guide you on changing the presets.

The display on the screen is jumping and does not hold still. Can this be fixed or is it time to replace the monitor?

A "previously-owned" 17-inch LCD screen probably will cost $30 to $50.
A brand-new 17-inch LCD screen is hard to find -- probably, nothing less than 19-inches is being sold, for $100 to $150.
An audio/video technician will charge $60 to $75 per hour to try to repair your LCD.

So, responsibly recycle (or "free-cycle") your old screen, and purchase a new 19-inch screen.

Why is it when my flatron monitor is plugged in to my laptop, the flatron screen reads "power saver on" and then turns off???

Have you pressed the key to allow VGA output....it is usually a combination of "Fn" + an "F" key
(at the top of the keyboard).
"Fn" is usually found near the left "Ctrl" or "Shift" keys. The F key has picture of a monitor or "LCD" on it

I am trying to connect my KOGi 17 in. monitor to my 15 in laptop and I get my Screen saver but NO Programs. what do I need to do??

Check the default power settings. Start -> Control Panel -> System & Maintenance -> Power Options. The default will turn off the monitor from five to fifteen minutes. Moving the mouse should turn it back on. Make sure your video out is activated. On most laptops the key looks like lOl. And its usually in the F4-F8 range

17" flat screen upper half is dark until "thumped"!

The inverter board that controls the lighting on the screen is dying. since its a 5 year old monitor and only a 17 inch. the cost to repair is greater than the cost of buying a new one. unless you know how to replace the part yourself. I think its best to just buy a new monitor

MY LG F1 WONT GET OUT OF SLEEP MODE WHAT DO I DO?

If your laptop won't respond to the wake up keypress you can hold the power button down for five seconds and your laptop will shut down. Then you can reboot it. You might want to go to the screen saver power options and prevent it from going to sleep if the problem persists.

Monitor goes blurry, colours/pixels start shaking across screen

Do you have your screen saver enabled, i so turn it off and se if it still does it. Secondly boot your pc in safe mode(pressing F8) on boot up and select start windows in safe mode. See if the monitor still does it, if so a monitor fault or loose/faulty vga lead. If it is ok then your graphics driver may be corrupt and need re installing.
