if the old lamp is still working, try it on just to make sure the new lamp is working, which more than likely it is GOOD. If you hear a clicking, buzzing. you may have a ballast problem. Meaning that this small board is responsible for providing your lamp w/ the correct voltage, and it might not be able to light up your lamp.
if you purchase a nine pin RS-232 connector cable with a male end and a female end you can hook your TV up to your computer. You can actually run a diagnostics program, and tests on your TV! The cable is like 5-10 dollars depending on length and is availible at most local computer stores. Just hook the cable up to the data port beside your PC input on the back of the TV. Good luck! (just saved you 100 tv repairman bill) and also check the bulb to make sure it is still good! The service guide to this TV has ALL the answers to your TV at www.nodevice.com , search in service manual and it has all the codes to reset your tv and counters for the bulb for $10..(for the manual that is you just download it to your computer then print it off)
make sure all componet cables are in the right color coded spots on the back or side of the tv and you are on the right componet if using a cable box make sure using componet / monster cables not all cable companies support hdmi if that is how you are trying to hook up make sure to check with them
