I have a WRT54G router and there is no WPS button.
This is a cut and paste from Cisco engineer:
Wi-Fi Protected Setup or WPS is a somewhat new feature on most routers. However, I believe that the WRT54g was release prior to this feature. The installation disc for your wireless adapter is trying to circumvent network discovery and the process of entering a wireless password by using the WPS feature. Without using the installation disc to setup the adapter should still be able to connect to your Wi-FI network. Only use the disc to install the drivers for your wireless card and the wireless access utility. After you have done this:
1.Open the wireless utility and you should see available networks
2.Select your Wi-Fi network
3.If the network is open (not password proctected) you should be connected immediately
4.If the network is secured (password protected) then you will prompted to enter your password or preshared key
5.After entering the key you should be granted access to the network
- Re-install the Adapter. - Update Wi-Fi Drivers. - Optimize Internet (Use reliable program for it like Reginout.) - Disable Global Auto-Tuning Feature. - Uninstall Remote Differential Compression API Support. - Clear DNS. - Upgrade your Wi-Fi's Antenna (If needed)
If you are using a commercial Wi-Fi network that requires a special login or subscription, see this article for more information.
If you are in a location with multiple Wi-Fi networks, verify that you are selecting the correct network.
Verify that the Wi-Fi network settings are correct:
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
Locate the Wi-Fi network you are currently using and tap
You can configure network-specific settings, including IP address, DNS, and Search Domain settings.
Use "Forget this Network" to reset settings for this particular Wi-Fi network, including the password. This is also useful if you identify a network issue and want to prevent the device from automatically using this network in the future.
Use "Renew Lease" to acquire new IP address, DNS, and Search Domain information from the Wi-Fi network.
Note: If the Wi-Fi network uses MAC address filtering, you will need to add the MAC address to the access list for the Wi-Fi router. The MAC address for your device is listed as the Wi-Fi Address in Settings > General > About.
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.
Reset network settings by selecting Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings, including passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
iPhone only: If you continue to experience issues, consider turning off Wi-Fi and using the cellular data connection instead of Wi-Fi.
If using a Wi-Fi router at home, refer to your user manual/documentation to assist you with some of these suggestions.
Check the manufacturer's website for your Wi-Fi router for firmware or software updates.
Verify the Wi-Fi router can broadcast an 802.11b/g signal. If using a 802.11n Wi-Fi router, consult the manual/documentation for how to configure the Wi-Fi router for 802.11b/g compatibility.
If you are using multiple WEP keys on your Wi-Fi router, try configuring your Wi-Fi router to use only a single WEP key.
Try or resetting (or turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router. Note: If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Disable wireless encryption or security on the Wi-Fi router to rule out encryption issues. If this resolves the issue, try using a different encryption or security protocol.
access your router with it's ip. http://192.168.2.1 or http://192.168.15.1 type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password" then
click on wi fi or wireless then enable WEP security *** WEP code it is
your password to connect your wi fi network .Then anybody need that
password to connect your wi fi network. Let me know if you need further assistance.
I think this won't work...the MIFI device works as a wireless router that can supply 5 connections and runs on battery which last for 4 hours for one connection then goes down as more connections are in...the MIFI was designed for mobility as the WRT54G is not...I don't exactly know what your plans are but this won't work well.
The Verizon MiFi is a combination 3G modem and Wi-Fi router that is battery-operated for full mobility. Once the MiFi has been activated (more on that later) the device connects to the Verizon Mobile Broadband network (renamed from BroadbandAccess) simply by pushing the power button. In just a few seconds, the MiFi is connected to the 3G high-speed network and the Wi-Fi router takes over. The MiFi appears as a hotspot to any device with Wi-Fi capability, and making the Wi-Fi connection is as simple as entering the network security code which is printed on the back of the MiFi. That’s it: The notebook or other device is now connected to the Verizon network via Wi-Fi. The network code only has to be entered to make the first connection, after which it’s an automatic process. That’s the beauty of the MiFi method: Push the power button and the laptop/UMPC/phone is connected to 3G.
xbox configures the connection automatically as long as it is able to detect an internet connection(either wired or wireless). For wirless connections though, make sure xbox is using the correct security key or wep key for the wireless connection.
> Try changing and creating a new wireless network name.
> Try changing your security mode like WEP to WPA or vice versa..
> Try to update you drivers on your laptop then restart your computer before connecting to your network..
> Try assinging DNS ( Domain Name Server.) ask your router manufacture for the DNS that you could use.
> Make sure you typing the correct password for your wireless network..
> Make sure you disable WI-FI protected setup and on the router.
> Try to disable Anti-virus and Firewalls on you laptop.
