Can't scan with Kodak Easyshare 5300 printer

My new Kodak easyshare 5300 used to scan to computer, but it won't do it any more. When trying to scan with the software I get error message "Unhandled exception has occurred. MSG_OpENDS failed with result 1 & condition code 5 Error code 1-2010 Kodak.com/go clear?" But if I disconnect the usb cable it can scan to an inserted card. After many hours with Kodak help and getting their solutions over and over, they finally said it's not a Kodak problem but rather it's a Microsoft problem. I'm using Windows XP home on a Gateway computer. I've looked on internet for people who have solved this problem but no luck. Can you help me?

    I am having the same problem with scanner and copier AIO software, will not scan or copy, get the same message MSG_OPENDS. I have been working with Kodak for 7 months and they came back and said it was my computer.

    worked fine after 3 hours of loading, reloading, removing,etc. with Kodak on phone. now today, I get error code 1-2010. mine is the kodak ESP7 Jeff Lyon

    Two days ago my scanner worked fine. Now When I try to open the Kodak AIO Center, it says it has stopped working. I uninstalled, ran kodaks clean up and reinstalled, now it says error code 1-2010. Is this a Kodak or Vista problem? Is there a solution? (5100 all in one)

    printer prints fine but will not scan when pushing button on printer to scan yellow power button flashes. When I try to open software to command from printer Program will not open and error code/exception code 1-2010 appears on screen in new smaller box. When I hit "ok" software shuts down

My Scanner (Barely used, not even through the first set of ink cartridges yet) was working beatifully. Then all of the sudden the same thing happened to mine...blinking lights...Power light flashing Yellow...I contacted Kodak and they had me do the same old thing...Unplug, uninstall, reinstall, restart. Nothing works...They also try and have you redownload firmware (But Hello....You cant if the printer isnt ON!) So I went back to them again to say none of it worked. They said its the print head and they are sending me another one. Ive read a lot of terrible reviews of this printer just because of the crappy print head...You would think they could fix that by now, or have 5 extras in the package when you buy it.

I installed updates for Vista and Kodak a couple of weeks ago. After that, the scan function on my Kodak 5300 AiO (which had always worked well) stopped working. I spent 3+ hours on the phone with two different techs in India (very nice, really tried to be helpful) trying to fix the problem. No success. I was also having the "black ink" problem and requested a new printhead. The printhead arrived, I installed it . . . now the scan function works perfectly again. Thought I'd share my story for what it's worth.

SOURCE: Printer Kodak Easyshare 5300 Will not print black ink

Here are the things you will be asked to try if you call support. They may fix the problems as well. Taking the printhead out and putting it back in is the big helper.

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.
After about a minute or so the printer will ask you to do a calibration.
Insert a paper and press start.
Scan the calibration sheet.
After that, in the menu, do a printhead clean.
(If this is a 5100, do it in the home center ->? in the top right ->Maintainence ->Clean Printhead.)
Do one basic and one deep.
Print a demo sheet to see if anything has changed.
If the picture looks better, continue to do cleans.
In the event that it does not, the printhead will need to be replaced and since the printer is still under warranty, Kodak specialists will try to overnight you a printhead.
The whole process is short and free.

SOURCE: How do you remove the printhead of a Kodak EasyShare 5300 printer?

I have tried what is suggested , I am not getting anywhere with this. I wasn't able to move my finger to the left of anything. What am I doing wrong!

Make sure you download the "KODAK All-in-One Printer Software (including drivers) for all 5000-Series and ESP-Series Printers" and not the "firmware".

Select to install all drivers (should be the default). Reattach the Kodak.

Make sure you download the "KODAK All-in-One Printer Software (including drivers) for all 5000-Series and ESP-Series Printers" and not the "firmware".

Select to install all drivers (should be the default). Reattach the Kodak.

My kodak easy share 5300 all in one printer will not scan


are getting any error msg like 1-2036 or anyother and are you using Vista or Xp,,,,try using the windows fax and scan settings....let me know and i will try and help you

Says replace ink cartridge


I have replaced my ink cartridges numerous times and they are still full. It keeps telling me the ink cartridge needs replacing. It won't print and the red light keeps blinking. I have disconnected the usb and the power. I have only had this printer for about a year. It won't scan or print. Its a Kodak Easyshare 5300. The HomeCenter AiO is disconnected so how do I contact anyone from Kodak?

I cannot scan on my easyshare 5300 It only scans halfway and then freezes. We have Windows Vista. Is that the problem?


NO . It should not be a VISTA problem as it has a VISTA driver available. Have you tried reinstalling the software and driver?

Kodak EasyShare 5300 won,t print Color


Replace Printer Head. It was stoped up. Cleaning didn't do any good.

Kodak AIO Easyshare 5300 scanning problem


Could be USB connection if you have another cable try it. Try connecting to different USB ports on your PC. If you have a Powerd USB hub lying around try connecting the printer to the PC through that.

Also try disconnecting all USB devices including the printer. Reboot your PC. Connect only the printer and try and scan.

Some times multiple USB devices dont work when they are both connected to the same PC.

Printer won t turn on


Try pushing the on/off button after the lights go off and it should turn on. If not, you have a hardware problem and have to call Kodak tech support.
