Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Nikon E5700 digital camara. Camara turns on, everything looks good, shutter opens but only see black through the view finder, monitor and will only take black pictures. I reset camera to factory settings, the battery is charged--don't know what else to try. Everything worked fine last week.

Hi I'm in the UK, having the same problem, tried the same solutions, no success. Now left with a 3.5 year old camera that cost £600 new and no means of finding a solution

Mine had been sitting several months. Turne dit back on and got all this distortion. Unusable. I just found out ablout the recall. Hopefully my problem fits their parameters, otherwise I'll be out shopping again. :-(

I haven't used my camera for a couple months. When I turned it on all I could see through the view finder were vertical lines. I could not focus on anything. Occasionally the view finder would appear to be black. Prior to putting it away for a while,it was working perfectly.

Camera stored for two months when switched on the image appears to be blurred and there are two images interleaved vertically

There is a service advisory out for Nikon E5700.

t has come to our attention that in a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 3500, 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700 and SQ digital cameras, an electronic component may, in some instances, fail affecting your camera's performance and/or operability.

While only a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 3500, 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700 and SQ digital cameras are affected by this advisory, if your camera presents symptoms that can include (1) images with a strong color tint, (2) images that are totally black and/or (3) images with visible defects, Nikon will, upon confirmation that the problem is associated to this Service Advisory, service your camera free of charge.

My Camera Canon Powershot S1IS has lights but the shutter will not open. I can't see anything looking through the view finder or through the LCD monitor. CF card ishas few pictures and placed correct

Make sure it is not in bulb or B for shutter speed. That will keep the shutter open and make everything black. In fact, just set different shutter speed and try. Recycle power of course. Can you see into the lens from the front, with flashlight if needed? And of course the final basic check, is the battery fully charged?

How can I stop displaying the photo information on the view finder?

In the viewfinder? The viewfinder will always display things like the f/stop and the shutter speed while you're preparing to take a picture. This cannot be turned off.

If you mean on the monitor on the back when reviewing your photos, simply press up/down on the multiselector to cycle through the different views of your photos.

I gave the lense part of the camara a moderate slap, and the camara has worked fine since. looks like a lot of people have the same problem. Most of the people call it black screen problem. the shutter gets stuck. Tap it a few times on the side of the lense part of the camara moving it from bright to dark objects back and forth.
good luck.

Dust inside my d200

The view finder and focusing screen are separate from the CCD sensor. The mirror reflects the image to the view finder until you take a picture. Then the mirror goes up, the shutter opens to expose the CCD to capture the image.

If you have a lot of dust, you should look into a cleaning kit, or have it professionally cleaned. This will show up on your images as white and/or black specks.

Black monitor Nikon Coolpix S4 Digital

Give the lense side of the camara a few moderate slaps while moving camara from bright to dark obgects back and forth. the shutter gets stuck and doesn't respond to changing light. that's why outdoor pictures are usually too bright and indoor pictures are black.
good luck.

Samsungs850 no pic in view finder

This is new. I see that according to the illustration, there is no Optical Viewfinder- thus you need the the screen to compose the images - Is this correct? As this camera is new to you carefully read up the instruction manual - especially the set up routine. If after a day or so you are still in trouble - take it back to the store for replacement. Do not interfere with the camera.

Black screen when camara is in photo mode

anyone else had this? or know what to do. whatever best you can do is to take the camera to a good repairer as you can't fix the problem by yourself. there may be two possible reasons for the problem. 1) bad image sensor i.e. damaged CCD or 2)shutter blade are not working. the shutter blades may be jammed due to friction are no signal.
