Minolta DiMage G500: objective does not retract

I have Minolta DiMage G500.

Problem: objective does not retract from the case. Happened on a rainy day (2 years ago).

It looks like the battery is fine. I tried to recharge, and tried to use the battery type adapter (wall plugged). The response is the same in both cases - the green light is on and the objective extends not more than 5mm.

I've never done disassembly myself, but would like to give it a try. Are there any step-by-step instructions available on-line ?
The expert service costs ~$180, which is too expensive for this camera. Can you suggest a guide for disassembling Minolta DiMage G500 ?

Possibly a low on battery or a discharge battery pack can occur and make the machine parts not to retract or functions correctly due to lack of power supply from the battery.

Try recharging the battery, or replace the BATPACK with a new one to fix the problem.

Cheers!

I'd recommend having it checked out by a shop, due to the sensitive nature of the components.

Hello!

you have to disassemble clean all the parts of the camera and fix it back but be careful all the parts are very sensitive. if afraid to do so, i would rather suggest you to let the service center do the job because they have a highly expert service tech.

best regards, melnavz

If it has a power but not responding, there's a problem on the mechanical that makes the lenses move forward. try to service it.

Trying to disassemble it and service it by your own is not advisable, there's some sensitive part and small parts that can make's much more complication's when you do this on your own.

I need to READ the battery charger instructions for a Minolta Dimage G500?

I suggest you charge the battery overnight and in the morning if the LED does not change color then the Red LED on the charger only indicates that there is mains power to the charge adapter.

I want to know how can I set the self timer on for my minolta G500

Repeatedly press left/right on the selector to bring up the self-timer mode (one-handed clock). Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

Refer to pages 38-43 of the manual for further details. If you need the manual, you can download it at

Need repair

You should go to a camera repair shop in your nearest city.

I suggest that you purchase another camera, because the price of the repair will be beyond the cost to replace the camera. You might be able to buy a second hand G500 on ebay.

How to use a minolta dimage g500 camera

Do you mean the memory card in your camera or do you mean another device?

First check that your memory card works in another device. There is a lock button on the SD card that needs to be unlocked.

Second, check that your camera settings have the SD card option selected. You can select the destination of your images.

I pressed in a pop up lence manually...

your lens mechanism is stuck up! try pulling the lens with slight force, if you are lucky the culprit that is blocking the mechanism will get loose. If you are not lucky theres no way you can remove or fix the problem than sending it to the authorized service center. =-(
