Don't run through the wizard. Choose to point to loacation which is, C:\windows\system32 & check sub folders.
For most boards USB 2.0 driver is part of windows update.

Im guessing that its not a password or distance problem. If so then youre card may have failed but you may just have to reset your wireless card. Go here: and see if this works I know it doesnt have windows 7 listed but if you have Win7 then the Vista instructions should be the same.

If this doesnt work follow the same instructions for your version of Windows and when you right click your device pick uninstall instead of disable. When the uninstall wizzard asks about removing the driver or software for the device DO NOT REMOVE THE DRIVER. finish the wizzard and once the device is removed restart your computer. The system should recognize new hardware and then you can try to reconnect to your network.

Intel dg31pr board says have no audio device

I spent months trying to figure this one out on my own PC. I finally have the solution. Go to device manager (right click my computer, go to properties, Then hardware, then device manager. Click on the"+"  in front of system devices. Find "microsoft uaa bus driver for high defintion audio". Right click that and select, "disable". Then right click it again and "unintstall" the device. This will allow you to install the audio drivers on your disc, or ones you have downloaded to install without an error message. Once done install your audio drivers and restart your PC and windows should start dectecting your new hardware. An installation wizzard pops up. Install the files needed yourself from a specific location, not a disk. It will ask for location of file name "hdaudbus.sys". That file is in C:/Windows/System32 folder. If it's not there, which it should be, just find and download that one file but it should already be there. I have done all this on xp home ed, sp3. I now have sound, and my front audio panel works. Please let me know if you have any problems by emailing me at

Usb ports not working

Hi stilla, when you were in the device manager did you notice any yellow ! points? This is important for me to know, & will come in handy for re-installing you're audio driver software.
Since you setup this board I'm guessing you installed Windows XP (Home or Pro). (If you installed any version of Vista let me know because Vista is famous for loosing USB ports & CD-ROM drives). Vista will need other suggestive steps to repair.
It is suggested that you run windows update service. This is needed not only for security patches but also for USB ports and other devices connected to you're system. I'm hoping after you updating windows you're USB's will function. When installing update & you will come across .Net framework versions, please install only one at a time. Please do not sip any because there are updates for the update. When you finish updating you're system through windows update service, do not install service pack 3. Wait until these other problem has been addressed.
After the last Win update restart the system (Even if windows does not ask you to). Go back into & run windows update service again. (Choose Custom update this time).
After windows finishes checking you're system, look to the left side of the page. You are looking for hardware updates. If there are some, download & install. Next, restart you're PC and enter the bios. (Press the delete key every 2 seconds until the bios main menu opens). Set Plug & play OS to No. This will be within the Advanced menu.
This allows the bios to set Irq’s & DMA's instead of windows for the basic input & outputs of the motherboard. Pages 2-11 in you’re manual. (This has nothing to do with speeding up or slowing down the computer).
Click on this link.
This will load Asus drive site for you're A7N8X-VM board. Click the + sign next to Audio. Create a folder on you're desktop & name it Realtek. Download the driver for you're OS & save the driver in the folder you created. The file is compressed. You will need to uncompress the file & keep the uncompressed files within the same folder. If you do not have WinZip you can download a free 45 day trial version into you're PC. Free download:
Once WinZip is installed right click once on the file A pop-up window will open, slide down to WinZip & left click, Extract to here. Open add/remove programs. Uninstall the sound driver AC'97. Restart you're PC. When windows finishes loading, open device manager. If there is a yellow ! point within Sound, audio and game controller, right click on it once. Than left click update driver. Windows hardware wizard will load. In the first window click No, not at this time. Click next. Click the circle, Install from a list or specific location & click next. Click in the box Search removable media, (This will remove the green check mark).
Than click the Browse button. Go to & open the folder you created (Realtek).
Click once on the folder WDM, than click OK. The downloaded driver software should install.
Windows sometimes just doesn't install some devices as it should & installing through device manager seems to work much better. Close all opened windows & restart you're PC. If you're sound still does not function than the onboard, integrated sound chip is defective or you're speakers are bad. You're board is beyond Asus 3 year warranty period. You will have to buy a PCI sound card to regain sound for you're system. I can suggest a replacement sound card from these links.

Please let me know if the above suggestions have made a difference? Post any errors, problem or failures. If anything does not go well, explain what did not work so I can possibly help you farther. It's my goal to get you're system to function.

Good Luck!

Usb still dont work or appear in device manager

Hi noel06, I have read all your post. In order for you to install your chipset drivers use your CD to first uninstall the the drivers. If you do not your system will crash & burn.
(You were lucky on your first try).

When the CD finishes uninstalling you can than re-install the chipset drivers. Go to Foxconn and download your chipset drivers.
Fill in the three windows as:
Socket 462 A
Click the Search button.
As you will see many Foxconn boards use the same drivers.
As long as your board is within the list (which it is), download Foxconn's drivers (check the date of these files to your CD files.
The web site list newer drivers.

Good luck! Take your time....
