How are you attempting to enter the setup (BIOS)? Here are the steps:
Press the blue Access IBM button when the message "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button" is displayed to enter the ThinkVantage Productivity Center, then select Start setup utility to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

Default boot order for emachine laptop 732

Step 1:
All computer systems go through a set of instructions called the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) when they are turned on. The BIOS checks all of the hardware and software installed on the computer to make sure they are working properly before loading the operating system. You may need to access the BIOS menu periodically to find out the current version of the BIOS you have if there are upgrades available. The command you use to access the BIOS settings on an Emachines computer will vary depending on the specific model you have.

Access the Start menu and click "Shut Down." Select the "Restart" option. Wait for the Emachines logo to appear on the screen as the computer begins booting up again. Press the "Tab" key when the logo appears and see if the computer switches to the BIOS menu. Press the "Escape," "Delete," or "F2" keys if the "Tab" key doesn't take you to the BIOS menu screen. Use the right arrow key to highlight the "Main" entry and press Enter. Scroll down to the heading labeled "BIOS version." Check the long string of numbers and letters under the "BIOS version" heading to locate the current BIOS version your Emachines is using. Press the "F10" key to exit the BIOS menu screen and finish booting up the computer's operating system.

No operating system found can't boot from usb there is no boot from usb option

Did you try pressing F8 key at boot up?

  • 1

Turn on your laptop and look at the first screen that comes up as soon as it is on. This screen will tell you "Press x key to enter setup", replacing "x" with the actual BIOS access key. It's usually "Del" or "F2" on Toshiba systems.

  • 2

Press the key firmly and quickly before the screen goes away. If you do not react quickly enough, you will miss the window of opportunity to enter the BIOS. On Toshiba systems, this window of opportunity is somewhere between two to five seconds.

  • 3

Navigate your BIOS configuration screen to the "Boot" tab. It is usually just before "Exit."

  • 4

As the first boot device, select "USB," or "USB HDD." If you have a "USB ZIP" option, you might be able to boot from it, so select that if you have no other choice.

  • 5

Press the button for "Save and Exit" in your BIOS. The correct button is usually F10.

Hello, I have very old IBM ThinkPad laptop that I never use anymore. Now I remembered that I have some files on it I have to get (also websites that I had put on favorites). When I try to turn on the...

    Hi.

I think the boot order on the laptop has been changed and the laptop is trying to boot from the LAN (NIC/Ethernet) port.

To change the boot order you need to access the BIOS. On older IBM laptops (and this is dependant on the model) the BIOS Utility is entered by holding F2 while the ThinkPad logo is displayed after power on, or, with the unit powered off, hold the F1 key and power the unit on. Keep F1 held down until Easy setup appear. The key is either F1 or F2.

On other models there is a blue Access IBM button when the message "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button" is displayed to enter the ThinkVantage Productivity Center, then select Start setup utility to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

once in the BIOS look for the boot order of the computer and change the boot order to the HDD (hard disk drive). There will be instructions on the screen on how to change the boot order. Save the changes and restart the laptop. Hopefully it will now boot into the hard drive and load the operating system.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Regards.
