Magellan will reset the password if I send the unit to them, at a cost of $125.00
I was told this yesterday by a tech.I was told by a dealer that they have a universal password but will not give it out.
Have let the batteries discharge, Even unplugged them, could not access the secutity screen by repeatily hitting ESC. No luck.
    Request further assistance.
    Thanks for your effort.

Have opened a support case with Magellan. Will keep you informed.
    Thanks

I find it hard to rate you when I do not have the solution that I paid for. The request to Magellan will probably go un-answered, If so I expect a solution from you are your co workers.

THEN GET THE H..L OFF OF THE WEB AND STOP ENTICING PERSONS TO GIVE YOU MONEY WITH NO INTENTIONS OR CAPABILITY OF SOLVING ANY PROBLEM. I KNOW NOW THAT YOU ARE NOT CAPABLE OF SOLVING ANYTHING. SO KEEP THE TEN DOLLARS AS A TIP, YOU WILL NEED IT WHEN YOUR SCAM IS UNCOVERED.

Magellan should be able to provide you a patch that will reset the security password. You would need to open a support case with them through their website, or call their customer support center:

Well, if I knew the secret password, I'd give it to you. But I'm guessing that secret is worth more than just ten bucks...

I can't speak for Fixya.com's owners, but I can speak for myself.

I don't have your $10, they do. You've come to this website as a user with a question you want answered. I've come to this website as a user who wants to answer other peoples' questions.

The answer to your question, to the very best of my knowledge, is, "Magellan charges $125 to repair your problem."

I'm sorry it cost you $10 to find out something you may already have known, but I'm just the messenger here.

If you came here hoping that $10 would buy you a "universal password" worth $125, I'm sorry that didn't work out. It wasn't a bad gamble on your part.

Like I said before, if I knew it I'd give it to you. But I don't, and your typing in all CAPS isn't going to change that. The thrust of my comment wasn't meant to rub anything in your face. I simply meant that the people who work for Magellan and know that universal password probably don't frequent this site.

I'm just trying to build a rating here by helping people with problems to the best of my ability. I'm not trying to piss people off.

Remove hdd password

You can change it but not 'remove' it. Simplest is to use '00000' as the default password.
Instructions
1 Shut down your computer.
2 Press the power button on your computer. While it is booting, press F2 repeatedly (do not just hold it down) until you arrive at a system screen showing a series of
options. This screen is called the BIOS Setup.

4 Arrow right to display a sub-menu under Security in the left-hand column.
5 Arrow down to "Internal HD PW" in the left-hand column. (That stands for Internal Hard Drive Password.)
6 Delete the old password (if any) and, in the same box, enter a new password of at least four characters in length in the main screen at right.
7 Write the password down and keep it in a safe place.
8 Hit Enter.
9 Hit the Escape button on your keyboard to exit the Internal HD PW menu, then hit Escape again to proceed to the Exit screen of the BIOS Setup.
10 Arrow right to save the changes you made to the password, then hit Enter on your keyboard to exit the BIOS Setup.
11 Restart your computer and use the password you created in the BIOS Setup to gain access to your hard drive.

If you are talking about problem with your password

You need to prepare:

Hi. Thanks for your question.

I believe default IP for your router is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
Please try both. Once you are asked for username and password put "admin" in username field and leave password box empty. Hit Enter and you should be able to access your router's settings.

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to ask more questions. Thank you for using FixYa

Get the user manual to verify how to make a master reset on your router. There should be a small button inside a very little hole, on the back, that you should press with a pen.

Entering BIOS settings, Easy-Access, after POP, with external KB

The Power On Password problem is near impossible to crack. It is designed to prevent unauthorized access to the Thinkpad and removing the BIOS battery will not remove the password because the password is stored on an EEPROM chip.
There are no backdoor passwords available, the only option is to ask the person who set the password.
OR
There is a way to hack into the Thinkpad to see and remove the password but it requires electronic skills, a program and a working computer.
For details on how to do this go to :-
