Question about Intel PGA478 Motherboard
I have a P4,soacket 478 mobo with the northbridge being an 845 +ICH4 with agp,my problem is this my mobo is not working it wont boot up.Im trying to replace it I cant find the exact same one I have,my question is this can I use any of the 845 chipsets I find?Im perticularly fond of the Jetway P4845-PEBL intel 845P socket 478 I845P + ICH4 chipsets, can I use this board and still be able to use my hardrives and os or would I have to start all over again with new hard drive.I want to be able to use everything from my old mobo. Please help.
Problem is, no one really makes 478 motherboards anymore.. so it will be difficult finding one with close enough specs to use same OS, when trying this there is no This will work or will not work" basically you are going to have to try your luck with one and if it works, it works.. if not.. tough luck.. you want to stick with same chipset, same socket and same ram type.. usually if i get those the same i have been able to start windows on the new board OK.. but like i said you will have to try it and see theres no guarentees with this kind if thing microsoft dont recommend it
