Wireless Microphone popping and crackling

Hi. I am having a problem with my Audio-technica ATW-R700 wireless microphone system that I use to mic my trumpet. I sometimes (but not always) get these occasional to frequent 'pops' and 'crackles' similar to that associated with a bad cable. It can happen when I'm completely still. Then I'll jump around to try and make it happen again and it won't. I always have the receiver within a few feet of where I'm standing. It is an intruding signal from somewhere and how do I solve this problem?

Hi, did you ever get your situation figured out? I am having the same problem with my microphone... unfortunately it only seems to do it when I have my speakers at high levels. I host karaoke nights at a bar so loud is expected. When I try it out at home at lower volumes, it doesn't clip. I'm wondering if the mic is picking up the low frequencies and reproducing them at louder levels leading to a point where it will clip. I hope you were able to fix your problem, it would help me out with mine.

These units are not changeable in the field. These are set at the factory.

SOURCE: Shure wireless headset microphone

The most likely problem is a bad connection between the jack and the internal PC board. If you can solder, you may be able to resolve this yourself. Be careful NOT to alter any of the internal coils. Try resoldering the connector and update this if that fails to resolve the problem.

SOURCE: Dropped the mic.

I would imagine the mic element broke. To test, remove from the case and without touching anything else, touch (using a small screwdriver if need be) the solder connections on the wires for the mic element (while system is up). Hum? Yes? bad mic element. No? Problem with electronics. Look for broken wires also.
The receiver shows signal so RF is ok. You have a problem with the audio section.

This is an obvious thermal problem. Use circuit cooler to isolate the bad part. It could also be a crack in a circuit board.

Alternate warming with hair dryer and cooling one component at a time while listening for the noise.

My mic wireless mic sounds like it has a ground loop hum when it is in standy mode and when it is all the way on. I've switched cables and batteries what could be causing this hum?

You could try another power adapter on the receiver, maybe this one blew the filter capacitor. I doubt your problem being the mic, rather check the receiver. Luck !

Is it a condenser mic? Either your mic is bad or you need to add a compresser to your signal path...

ATW-T52, hissing/crackling.

A common problem that SOME have is due to the foam windscreen inside the metal screen rubbing the diaphram of the mic.

Unscfew the dome screen and make sure the foam is out agaist the scree everywhere.

If the dome has become dented, this is my cure: Temporarily remove the foam sheet inside the dome. Put the dome over the handle of a Crescent wrench (has about the right contour). Pound on the screen with a RUBBER mallet, rotating the screen as it reforms! Good as new! Replace the foam sheet and reassemble!
