Question about FIC AM 37 Motherboard
I made the mistake of updating the BIOS on an eMachine computer with a Compaq BIOS. Both computers use the FIC AM37 mother board, so the computer works. I updated the processor to a AMD Athlon XP 2400+, but this BIOS only allows it to run as as an 1800+. I have an updated BIOS from FIC, but the flashing program will not burn it to the chip: wrong chip ID. Looking at the CMOS, I see that the Compaq BIOS has overwritten the BIOS ID to read Compaq Presario. Is there a way to restore the ID and what should it be restored to?
Thanks for any help,
Go to Compaq and download the original bios from them. If that takes then you should be able to change it to what ever you like.
