Question about Pioneer CDJ-800 Turntable

1 Answer

I can't see the digital readout

Both of my CDJ-800 have stopped displaying any information regarding track, bpm, time etc, both up top and in the centre of the wheel. The audio function plays fine but ive no visual technical info.

It can't be just a coincidence that the exact same problem has happened out of the blue to both turntables within 2 weeks of each other.
I can barely make out the bpm at the top of both turntables, but nothing else.

Please Help

There may have a been a slight power surge which fried either a resistor or IC inside the unit. This is NOT a self repair, and you will have to get it serviced by a professional service center.

Good Luck.

A drunk guy throwed a little bit of beer on the cdj (it was REALY just a little bit) and it's having many problems now: FIRST: i can't eject or insert any cd's. I think it is Error 9101. Not sure because I...

If this was brought to me for repair the first thing I would do is completly strip the player to clean out any beer residue. This would involve washing all the plastic parts (top chassis, knobs, jog wheel parts etc etc) in warm soapy water. Any residue on the circuit boards is best cleaned off with a toothbrush and an alcohol based spray / liquid such as Isopropyl alcohol (if nothing else available metholated spirit will do but it tends to leave a purple residue itself).
Some spare parts may well be needed if, for instance the beer has got into the tack switches or pitch fader etc.
Error 9101 is stated as :-
Mechanical time out - Abnormality of disc loading mechanism
so the beer may well have got in the deck aswell but it could also be the electronics are confused causing the deck to do stange things thus generating the fault code - hard to say for sure without having the player on the workbence.
I hope this information helps.

Pioneer cdj 800 mk2 playing mp3s, jogwheel & screen dont work

More than likely the contact pad (aka Membrane pad) is probably damaged... or the flat cable which connects to the main processor, might be loose, or damaged.

You'll need to get this professionally checked out by a qualified technician. It's not an easy fix.

Can you help me

Sounds like you have a broken Sheet Switch. Basically, there is a circular piece of plastic which goes underneath the jog wheel, so that when you press the wheel, it activates the switch and stops the track / slows it down, and also puts the indicator on in the middle of the wheel. The part is readily available from Pioneer, and is a bit of a tricky fit, however is not the hardest thing to fit on the unit. However, it is the most fragile part of the player, and most common to fail if the unit has had physical trauma, eg dropping, spillage etc.

My LCD Display

Well, one of 2 things may have gone bad...

1) Ribbon Cable
2) LCD PC Board

The first is easily fixed. The second, is not. As for service centers, I suggest you contact Pioneer - www.pioneerelectronics.com
