I have this problem with my Motorola V365. I bought a SanDisk 2GB Micro SD card and plug it in. I go to load pictures on it and I get the message:

    "Storage Device Unreadable. Format Now?"

    Cancel / ( Ok )

"Formatting will erase all data. Continue?"

    ( Yes ) / No

"Formatting: Memory Card" (This message displays briefly.)

    "Format Failed. Try Again?"

    Yes / No

It doesn't matter what path I use to get to the memory card, the same sequence is activated. The disk works on two cameras of diffrent brands and also my laptop. I can format the disk with my laptop to NTFS, FAT, and FAT32 file systems, but none cange the way my phone sees the disk.

If I "View Free Space" from the "Pictures Menu", I am shown:

    Lable: Memory Card

    Free 0.00 Kb

    Used: 0.00 Kb

    Total 0.00Kb

    Lable: Phone

    Free 1096 Kb

    Used: 5176 Kb

    Total 6272 Kb

Is there any solution to this? I want that extra storage space! I want to be able to conviniently move my mp3 ring tones to my phone and my pictures and video to my computer!

I have a similar problem with my K1 Motrola Krzr. It says the same thing but my memory card WILL work in another cell phone, no matter what card I put in there (any size), it says the same thing about formatting. It has to be a problem with the phone bc my 1mb memory card works fine in other phones. Any help?

I've gotten it to recognize a 1GB card. It seems like there has to be some way to get a 2GB to work, what could be the difference between them? I tried partitioning the card on my computer to 512MB, but it still wont work.

Salamz brothers! it is simple many people face this problem so, kindly check your mobiles' those pins which touch the memory card on back side of your mobile. There you will must see one or two pins would have gone punched due to sometime wrong inserting of memory card. just correct those pins and INSHA ALLAH your mobile will must detect your card. Hope it will solve you problem.

512MB is the largest M2 chip that the phone will recognize. I have the same phone and the same problem.

Unreadable memory card!!!!motorola krzr k1

you may have to buy a memory card reader, plug it into your computer and format the memory card before it will work in your phone, or your phone may require a different format of the same card, for instance some camera's take SD cards, and some take the HD/SD card, and they are not interchangeable, the SD will not work in the HD/SD device and vice versa..........hope this helps........

Hello, first of all have you formatted the memory card? If not some memory cards have to be formatted in order to work with cell phones, to do this you must have a memory card reader and your computer, plug the reader into the usb, and then insert the card, you should be able too format the card if it is not already factory formatted, if it is not then format it and it should work in your phone.........hope this helps........

Motorola k1 not reading memory card

Motorola phones often require memory cards to be formatted in order to be used. Go into your Setting and Tools menu. From there it depends on which carrier you have and which version of their software, but you're looking for an option for Memory or Storage Devices. It may be under Device Info, Phone Info, or another similar header. Again, the exact menus will vary between carriers and software versions.

Once you locate the menu for Memory/Storage Devices you should see an option for the Memory card. Select it, then choose Options (right soft key) and you'll see the Format option.
