Hi Eddien, you can get the entie user manual from here. It has detailed instructions. Read pages 6-7, and then page 10,there are detailed instructions on how to set for mono operation, and the correct connections to the Speakon plug. They are easy to change and you generally only need an allen key of the right size. Good Luck. Get back to me here is you have any issues you want to write about:)

regards
Graeme

I have a gemini gpa 3000 amp that takes quarter inch jacks but my speakers are regular speaker wire what will i have to do to connect these speakers.

All you need to do is get a couple of quarter inch jack plugs. Sometimes known as mono Jack Plugs. You solder the plus wire to the small lug and the negative wire to the larger lug. These jack plugs are different to the stereo ones used on headphones as there is only one black plastic band visible on the shaft, wheras stereo ones have two. You can get them from places like Maplin etc. Image below:

Please note these come in different shapes and sizes to the one shown. The body of the plug screws off to show the lugs. You put the body on the cable before soldering!

Tip

Behringer PMP powered mixer safety issue

This is applicable to the PMP powered mixers regarding an undocumented issue of polarity of speaker connections.

Failure of the "A" side of these units can happen if Speakon to 1/4 inch speaker cables are used and IF the barrel of the 1/4 inch plug becomes grounded. This can happen from careless handling or from intentionally trying to parallel another device from the output which results in a ground being placed on the barrel of the 1/4 inch jack on the "A" side of these mixers. The barrel of a 1/4 inch on the "A" side is the "hot" from the amp.

Upon analyzing the circuitry, these mixers internally invert the audio signal to the "A" side and then the speaker connections reverse the polarity again. Behringer does this to easily allow "bridged" operation of the amplifier.

This creates a hazard that can result in blowing the "A" side amp of these mixers.

If one ONLY uses Speakon connectors everywhere it is NOT a problem, but anytime 1/4 inch plugs are used in the speaker cable system, the hazard exists.

Want to wire a female speakon connector in a plate with 1/4 connector on other end to plug into a rack mounted amp. Plugging onto speaker.

Just so I understand what you are trying to do; you have a power amp that has 1/4" phone output and want to make up a cable of x length to plug into a SpeakOn(c) connector on a speaker. Correct?

To connect a mono mic cable into a pabx with audio out what do you do with the earth cable from the mic cable?

your talking about using a balanced cable to hook-up an unbalanced item. no problem, wire pins 1 and 3 together as a ground and pin 2 carries your hot signal.

i'm not sure what a pbax is though! either the rules applies to everything that is pin2 hot.

How would you connect a Roland Space Echo direct into a Behringer 2642a mixing desk? Have tryed all inputs/outputs with nothing. Could this be because the mixing desk has ballanced ins/outs and the Roland...

In order for this to work, you need what is called an "insert" cable. This will have a balanced 1/4" connector on one end and 2 1/4" mono-connectors on the other. The balanced connector is also known as a TRS connector (Tip,Ring,Sleeve). You should have "insert" jacks on the mixer. Place the balanced connector into whatever insert you wish to use (usually this is inserted into the main insert). One of the 1/4 plugs is for input, one for output. I don't know which is which for your specific unit, you will have to experiment. Keep us posted. Dan
