What kind of oil did they put in? The drain is on the lowest part of the engine, a small plug either in the block or at the end of a pipe, just find a container to fit under there and pull the plug, then fill it back up with the fresh oil. Don't forget the plug!

the indications are that the oil ring cannot handle the oil load
possible that the fuel tank has drained into the sump through a faulty float needle and seat

Hi Michael
If it is a newer mower you may not have an oil drain. On the newer motors they do not put a oil drain as in the older engines
Look on the bottom of the mower where the blades are and see if there is a drain plug there, if not then you will have to tip it on its side to drain the oil out of the sump

The engine has been over filled with oil or the oil ahs been contaminated with fuel or water that can cause an over filled condition. It is posible that the wrong fuel was used, deisel or 2-cycle fuel. I would start with these things to investigate. If the fuel tank is draining into the oil sump, it is going through the carburetor. This means the float and needle are stuck, prevented from going fully shut. If the wrong fuel was used, you will need to drain to remove it to a container.
The Briggs and Stratton motor does not have a drain plug on the bottom of the mower.
Today when you have your mower serviced at a repair shop they don't drain the oil. They **** it out of the fill tube with a vacuum. Since you don't have an oil vacuum just remove the dipstick and tip the mower over to drain.
It's very difficult to find information for this specific mower, however, most petrol mowers have a reservoir size of 1 pint / 0.5 litre. You should have a dipstick for checking the oil level anyway.
Basically, I suggest you drain the sump and add 0.5 litres of oil to ensure that the machine is neither low on oil or overfilled. Then call/email the manufacturer on Monday for clarification and/or a new manual.
sounds like the engine has wet sumped and is extremly full of diluted oil / petrol
does your oil smell like petrol and is very thin if wet sump indicated
remove tank and carb , clean tank, clean carby and replace fuel needle and seat - check float for hole reset fuel level and reassemble , adjust governor , drain and refill engine oil and replace air filter and plug, , check valve clearance and reset iff need
The float is getting stuck open which will cause the engine/sump to fill with oil and thats why you see oil comming out carby/air filter clean ya plug drain your sump turn motor over with plug out a few time to clean out check float/needle and seat in carby refil oil clean ya spark plug and off you go it will blow heaps of white smoke don't worry it is just buring th oil out if the exhaust/engine hope this helps some one
