SOURCE: My receiver is in protect mode.
The units in the protect mode because the Microprocessor detects a large current being drawn by the amp. section of the reciver. This is a solid state unit and there are no user replaceable parts inside this unit. Unless you know how to trouble shoot sloid state devices then you should seek a pro to assist you with this repair. GOOD LUCK

I had the same problem with STR-DE545; I worked out over time the main board starts to sag, which in turn causes the exposed solder points to earth out on the bottom of the case. Reseating the mainboard along with using non-conductive foam to hold it up, fixed the grounding issue. Hope this helps anyone else with the same issue. :)

It's very likely it is a fuse - does it work with any other speakers or headphones? Is there any reset on the back of the receiver? If not, unplug it, remove the cover and check the fuse(s).
Rate if this helps :)

There's a button that turns the speakers OFF right above the headphone jack.

Testimonial: "@dunnbiker Very true on assumptions! I've tried everything the manual suggests. Right now, nothing is connected to the unit, but upon power up, I get the SP:OFF display (which is not seen in the DEMO mode). I will try the headphone jiggling idea and see what happens."
