Never the less i was playing it the other day and i heard a pop in the front speakers i was using the MD moode witth regular audio cables. I notice some of the displaying light were dim like it was not getting enuff power. After i check the wires ect i turned it back on the display said ' OK ' It was ok for a while and then the other day i was playing it again and the sound went. The same display light was dim and the light on the volume went off but the display was up. I tried checkng the wires and everything seems to be ok. After i left it off for a while and turned it back on it played for a short time and then no sound. I saw an unusal display it reds ' AC-3 RF' when i put the recevier on tuner the sign comes of but still no sound. I turned it off again for a day and it start playing again but after 5 mins the sound went again and the same display comes up again AC-3 RF' Could you tell me if it some thing that iam not doing or should b doing, or should i give it out to be fixed. PS When the sound chips out and u try to open the lever it just go up and down repeatedly at a slow pace and wont close, but when the receiver starts to work the lever moves freely and closed itself. It seems like a power problem not sure but any help will be gratefull dont want to buy ny other recevier. Regards Desi Wilmot desilee2000@hotmail.com

SOURCE: My receiver is in protect mode.

The units in the protect mode because the Microprocessor detects a large current being drawn by the amp. section of the reciver. This is a solid state unit and there are no user replaceable parts inside this unit. Unless you know how to trouble shoot sloid state devices then you should seek a pro to assist you with this repair. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: Sony STR-DE945 Clicking Noise Sound Cutting Out

I had the same problem with STR-DE545; I worked out over time the main board starts to sag, which in turn causes the exposed solder points to earth out on the bottom of the case. Reseating the mainboard along with using non-conductive foam to hold it up, fixed the grounding issue. Hope this helps anyone else with the same issue. :)

SOURCE: Sony Receiver STR-DE305

It's very likely it is a fuse - does it work with any other speakers or headphones? Is there any reset on the back of the receiver? If not, unplug it, remove the cover and check the fuse(s).

Rate if this helps :)

SOURCE: Sony's STR-DE675 5.1 Channel Receiver - Speaker OFF problem

There's a button that turns the speakers OFF right above the headphone jack.

Testimonial: "@dunnbiker Very true on assumptions! I've tried everything the manual suggests. Right now, nothing is connected to the unit, but upon power up, I get the SP:OFF display (which is not seen in the DEMO mode). I will try the headphone jiggling idea and see what happens."

Want to play my ipod through sony str-de135 receiver

Get a headpone to rca cable (radio shack or best buy) and use any input on the rear of the receiver except phono. You will need to turn the ipod to near max volume.

Error code - protector

Try disconnecting all the speakers from the back and turn the unit back on. If the "protector" display goes away, turn the unit back off and reconnect one speaker. Turn it back on and check for "protector". Repeat.

If you find that one of the speakers causes "protector" to appear, you either have a bad speaker cable or bad speaker. Try swapping each of those out to see what happens.

Don't receive hardly any FM stations

Well I would consult your manual.  Home receivers usually dont have the same amplification factors that a mobile unit does as far as sensitivity.  But for best results make sure that you are using the supplied antenna, and put aluminum foil over it.  This will help amplify the signal.  Also consult the manual as to weather there is a setting for DX or Local.  If there is, make sure that it is not set to local.

Function Selector Bypasses Input Sources

Hopefully this post isn't too late... That receiver has the ability to disable certain inputs. The easiest thing to try is to do a factory reset.
1. Turn off the receiver
2. Hold down DISPLAY and PANEL UP/DOWN buttons and press power.
3. All Clear should appear on the screen.

Unfortunately, this clears out all of the other settings on your unit. It should, however, re-enable the inputs.

Let me know if this helps!

Direct tuning

Unfortunately, according to the manual you can not directly tune a station.

Dowload the manual here:

and go to page 50.

Wiz sony

The receiver has detected a problem in the final output stage and has shutdown to prevent further damage to either the amp or the speakers. The most common cause of this is shorted output transistors. Figure about $15-$30 for parts plus the local labor rate.

RX-V661 Receiver

your receiver has zone 2 output which is operated independently of the main reciever. so you can have a dvd playing inthe main reciever and the tuner playing over the intercom. read about it in your manual page 89. in will hook up to 2 RCA jacks in the back Zone 2 out.

Digital optical from DVD player produces no audio

Hi, It sounds like your receiver is still looking for audio on the coaxial connection, rather than the optical.

1. Make sure the optical connection is between your DVD player and the LD/DVD Optical In on the back of your receiver.
2. If you have a monitor connected to the receiver to show the on-screen display, click Setup from the main menu, click Input Mode, then, next to LD/DVD choose Optical. It may be set to coaxial, analog or auto.

Alternatively, choose the input source on the front of your receiver (LD/DVD), then press Input Mode button (bottom right, near the input selector) till it displays Digital Optical.

If all else fails, reset the receiver by:
1. Turn off the receiver
2. Hold down DISPLAY and PANEL UP/DOWN buttons and press power.
3. All Clear should appear on the screen.

Use caution, however, as this will erase all the settings in your receiver.
