Question about Washing Machines

Own a Maytag Washing Machine Model No. LAT9416AAE I overloaded with a extra large comforter. I started the cylce and went upstairs to my room leaving it unattended. My parents were down stairs With it, and next thing I know, My dad is yelling at me that I broke the washer!!!The belt I'm sure is probably ruined because the smell of burnt rubber was heavy in the air. My father had smelled the rubber stench and ran to the machine and shut it off! But after we Unloaded the comforter from the machine and bucketed out the water;we tryed to restart the cycle it fill with water, but absolutely dead after that, Would it be the over load protector I see in the wiring schematics? and if so where is it ocated exactly, and also how and were to replace the belt? Help Please!!!!!!

There is a thermal overload protector in the motor. After the motor cools it should restart. There is an off balance switch that might have been tripped when pulling out the comforter or when bailing out the water. As for the belts, tip the machine back and you will see the belts underneath the washer. Very easy to change and you'll see what I mean when you see the belts. That should solve your problem. AND DON'T OVERLOAD THE WASHER AGAIN.

I have a maytag washing machine (model- LAT9416AAE) that will not drain water. It was a small load and at the end it did not drain.

This is your drain pump that is out. This is a fairly easy repair to make.

Just contact us at:

Water leaks when filling

Use a putty knife at the top front corners to release the spring catches. Lift up the top. Examine the plastic thing that delivers the water to the tub, it may be cracked or out of place.

Leaking

Sheets Or Comforters? This Normally Occurs With An Overload Such As Pillows And Comforters Due To The Large Circumference. Which Simply Means That Anything That Has A Large Area Will Make The Water Come Over The Top Because When The Machine Is Running The Spin Cycle The Large Area Of Fabric Covers The Side Of The Machine. Actually Causing Water To Spin Off The Top Of The Fabric And Over The Sides Of The Washing Machine Bucket Thus Ending Up On The Floor Below.

Washing down comforter

Hi,
It really depends on how big the drum is. It needs room to wash properly, so if there is no room - I would say it's too big.

Try your local laudarette - they have industrial machines that are designed for large items, so to save yourself a repair bill - just use them.

Size of washer

Size varies between manufactures, the biggest I have seen is the GE which is 3.5 cu ft, base your machine on your standard size load, ours is about 8lbs however I dont overload, I take large items quilts, comforters etc to a laundromat, its not worth breaking my machine over a comforter wash for $3.50 American.

Go to Sears.com and look @ the washers available

Washing machine not working

You probably burnt the belt. Take the front panel off, two screws at the bottom and let the motor cool off.

Increase the water level and then turn it to spin. see if it pumps out.

The belt will need to be replaced.
