Well i generally dont use my wireless a whole lot but now that i got a laptop, a nintendo wii, and an itouch i want to use it more now.
constantly i get on for like a few pages and as soon as i click to go somewhere ive lost the connection, i see the network connection in the dialogue box and it says 100 percent but my periphals will not connect. I dont have wep on, i have the latest firmware, ive rebooted, renewed, released and nothing. sometimes i connect and sometimes i dont. my itouch always says it cant find the server and once every so many minutes i connect but i take it anywhere else i have no problem, same with the laptop...the wireless in my house is just not working like it should. The one button easy setup is not making this easy at all.

Re: limited connection on wireless signal
1.Try to reset your router to a factory defaults. 2.Try to change the wireless channel 3.If you have a 2.4 GHz phone in your house, it might interfere with your wireless network since it's using the same frequency. Regards
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Not that I am aware of , but you signal strength will degrade if all the devices are on and using at once. Also your ISP MAY "throttle" your service/signal with high data usage. That said, Your iTouch and xBox, in the setting , wireless, the iTouch should see the signal, Is the wireless turned on? It's discoverable? If your wirell has a Password, has a setup box on the iTouch asked for the password? Use the Manuals for the devices to troubleshoot connections.
For nintendo wii , you can use the security WEP or WPA ( PSK ). These 2 security types will works with WII. If you put WEP,then 10 digit number will be the security code. To change the security on the wireless network, you will need to open the set up page of the router. Once you change the security on the router, it is recommended that you will change the wireless network name SSID. after changing the wireless settings , you will need to connect to the new wireless network on all your wireless devices like laptop , wii.
Sounds like you need to configure the PC's USB wireless adaptor. The settings must be the same as the router. If you use a WEP password on the other connections then you need to have the same password on the USB wireless adaptor.
What i would suggest is either using the suggested routers which are suggested for the reason of they are know to connect with little error. Other routers conduct themselfs differently and cause errors. What you might try is updating your router and drivers on your computer. This should update your router to the best know configuration and allow the smoothest opperations. If this doesn't answer your problem please post again.
Please post what you do and how you did it.
I look forward to your posts.
The modern laptop and Wii will be no problem. Windows 98 will work but it can be much trickier to set up.
1 x Wireless Router - You can pick up a 2WIRE Router from around £20 on eBay
3 x Wireless LAN Network Adaptors - Around £20 each.
Firstly, the Router. This bit connects to your telephone line and broadcasts your broadband signal by radio and allows several computers to use one service. When you buy a router make sure it includes installation software. You can install routers without, but it's a whole lot easier if you have it.
Next you need to be able to receive the broadband radio signal on your computers and Wii.To receive the signal you need Wireless LAN Network Adaptors on each device. Network Adaptors also have software, which allows you to install the drivers needed.
Your laptop may already have a wireless adaptor built in.
You can check this by clicking
Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Communications\Network Connections
Then see if a Wireless adaptor is present. If it isn't, you can install one inside the laptop by buying a laptop wireless network card. Easier, is to buy a USB Wireless LAN Network Adaptor which just plugs in to a USB socket on the laptop.
Look for LAN Network adaptors that are suitable for the Wii and a separate one suitable for Windows 98. Most will be ok for the laptop.
Install the router first. just do what the software tells you, then install the LAN adaptor drivers on each device you want networked.
Finally, make sure you secure your router signal. That stops the guy next door using your network and offers some security from hackers. Your router will include a firewall and you can set up a key code that your adaptors will need before they can connect. Unless the guy next door has the key, he won't be able to use
your network and play your MP3s...hoorah!
Follow the instructions given in the software to set up a WPA or WEP security key.
Great fun, you'll love it if you can get it all going.
