I replaced black cartridge on a HP 2110 All-in-One because the Printer Device Manager was complaining that the black cartridge was low on ink.
Printer printed the pen alignment instruction page and the alignment page.
I placed the alignment page on the scanner glass and pressed "Enter".
Now the printer's LCD I/O window repeats "Aligning... Please wait...".

A test page keeps on printing everytime the printer is switch on

Hi,

The printer is printing alignment page. This will be printed if the printer was reset or if you have changed the ink cartridges. We need to complete the alignment process.

1. Place the printed page on the scanner correctly.
2. Press scan button on the printer.
3. The ON light will start blinking, wait until the ON/OFF light stops blinking.
4. Now the alignment is completed and it should not print anymore untill next cartridge change

Thank you
Rizwan.

It does everything but print. Instead of printing it just keeps pumping out paper until the tray is emply.

To resolve this issue please perform a semi full reset on the unit

Performing a semi-full reset of the All-in-One
  1. Use the On button to turn on the product.
  2. Remove the power cord from the product.
  3. Press and hold the # and 6 buttons.
  4. While holding the buttons down, connect the power cord to the product.
  5. Continue to hold the buttons down until the color graphics display becomes blank, then release the buttons.
  6. Use the On button to turn on the product. The reset information appears on the color graphics display.
If issue persists then print a self test page on the unit and check ink levels. If cartridges are low or empty then replace cartridges.

aligning the print heads is a standard test.

what sort of printer are you working with here?

ALIGNMENT PROBLEM

try doing incremental resets.

start with a partial reset:
press the # and 3 buttons simultaneously, and while holding them down, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer. wait 3 seconds, while still holding down the buttons. Then plug the cord back in. Wait until the LED will prompt "partial reset" and release the buttons.

try to align again.

if the problem persists, do a semi-full reset:
Same instructions as above, but this time use the # and the 6 buttons. Wait until the LED will prompt "semi-full reset" and release the buttons.

try to align again.

Keep printing test sheets

A lot of HP printers print a page to enable the print head alignment and calabration. This normally orcurs when a cartridge has been changed. If the alignment page fails then it will reprint alignment page until it can align.

So, you need to get that page it prints and place it on the glass and press scan, then it will complete alignment and be ready to rock.
