I want to write pen with toshiba portege tablet on XP

If you have Windows XP tablet PC Edition 2005 installed on it, you can use the Wacom Pen to enter text instesd of type it.

On Windows XP tablet PC Edition 2005, there is an Input panel Icon on the tray bar, usually to the left, close to the Start button.
Use the pen to click the Input Panel. When it opens showing you a black line on yellowish backround you can start using the pen as if it were on paper. Depending on the pen input setting it will insert automatically or waits for you to press the insert button.
However for the converted text to be inserted you need to have a text editing software open (Word Pad for example.)

If when you open the input panel you see a keyboard you can change that to handwriting (continuous line) or typing separate letters.

The computer can be taught to recognize your handwriting: You will need to practice. You might have to download and install the relevant ink recognition package for your language. Look for it on the Microsoft tablet PC page.

How to convert hand writing into microsoft word/ppt file , which software is needed

You need a handwriting recognition program and an input device. On a desktop the input can be from the mouse, and on a laptop you can use the touchpad.

Microsoft Office has handwriting recognition software included but not always installed. This page at MS tells how to install handwriting support if your computer has MS Office installed. If you don't have Office, MS has a download here for their Recognizer Pack. It says that XP systems are supported. (I have never tried installing this software myself on a system, but I've used several Tablet PCs and they work well with my scribbling.)

There are also companies selling handwriting recognition software. Here's one I found with a search on Google. I don't know anything about it, but the description looks interesting and it's not expensive.

Hope this helps get you started. Thanks for using Fixya!

I purchased a twinbridge chinese pen tablet software years ago. After a period of time I found it again and intalled into my another PC, but when I insert the tablet plate (USB) into the PC, the mouse...

This is a driver problem. The tablet worked fine on the first computer as it was probably Windows XP and the computer you are trying to use the tablet on now is a Vista or Windows7 pc. You need to go to the Twinbridge Chinese Pen Tablet web site and click on Support, then Downloads. Then put in your Model number and download the driver for your operating system; Win7, Vista, XP, Linex or Mac Os.

Pen wont write

to enable writing you need either Win XP Tablet edition, Vista Home premium and up or handwriting recognition software. Microsoft office 2003 has support for handwriting as well, but it needs to be installed as additional package. There are also many programs available from other developers.

Bamboo Fun won't work w/ provided software

I think you need to select the right tool to use with the tablet, I like to use the tablet with the lasso tool. If you want to draw use Adobe Illustrator. If it works as a mouse I think you just need to learn how to use the software you are dealing with.

How to use the toshiba pen

First, go to your control panel and find the icon for the pen. Next, calibrate the pen and set up how you want it to work. The pen is not for use in every program necessarily but with handwriting recognition activated and a charactes set entered, it will wirk. It is also good for graphics, with a bit of practice. Some units let you erase with the back of the stylus, just like a pencil eraser.
