I have a 3 year old Canon Power Shot A550. It has worked fine until this past month. Every time I turn the camera on I have to set the date and time. It used to hold this information, but no more. The batteries are not being changed - I am just turning the camera off.
Open up your battery door, and you'll notice another tiny door labeled "CR1220". Pry open that door with your fingernails, and you'll find a little button watch battery that keeps the time settings for your camera. It's time for a new battery. Take that little battery down to your local drug store (Walgreens or Rite-Aid). Should only cost about $4. Note that Walmart is more expensive for these type of batteries, and drug stores are usually cheaper (I know, it's hard to believe).
