Most likely the ribon that attaches to the board is damaged or not seated in straight. also, try updating your chipset/ mainboard drivers also, is could be a software issue. Go to the Manufacturers website and look up any new drivers or r-install the old ones.

also, it may just need to be cleaned out.

Good morning!
First thing to do is to figure out if this is a keyboard problem or not. Plug an external keyboard in and try it. if the problem goes away, you've probably got a keyboard problem. If it doesn't, you probably got a motherboard problem. If the external keyboard doesn't make a difference, there is not too much that you can do and you are probably looking at a motherboard replacement.
Once established that you have a keyboard problem, take the keyboard off of the notebook and clean it real good. Using compressed air, a brush and firmly tapping it on it's side while using these.
Check the cable and connectors on the keyboard to make sure they are properly seated and not damaged. Plug it back in and try it. If it works, good for you! You've just fixed it. If not, don't mess with it. Get a replacement and you are good to go.

Touch Freeze, a free utility program may help fix that problem. I assume this just started to happen, correct?
If that fails, try another keyboard, preferably a USB Wireless Mouse/Keyboard.

Does J give you 1, and K give 2? If so, you have the numeric pad turned on. To turn it off, hold the [fn] key and press the [num lk] key.

It wont let me go into safe mode

Try a different keyboard, or maybe a keyboard that is PS/2 instead of USB. You can also press "Pause Break" to actually pause the options menu and give you a better chance of hitting the "F8" key in time. Remeber: hit the F8 key to enter safe mode! Hope this helps!

Laptop Keybord is not working properly. If we click on one letter it is showing another letter.

Download and run Ccleaner here:
Run cleaner and registry cleaner. then:
1

Examine your keyboard for any build-up of dust, dirt, liquids or other particles that could be causing the keys to type the wrong characters. Allow any loose dirt to fall out by inverting and shaking the keyboard lightly.
2

Plug your keyboard into another computer. If the keyboard works, then the port on your original computer may not be working.
3

Confirm that your keyboard is set to the English language. Go to your control panel and click on the "Regional and Language Options" icon. If the setting appears to be in a foreign language, change it to English/U.S.
4

Check if your number lock key is on. If so, depress the key to disengage it.
5

Run a character key test by using the Microsoft Keyboard Diagnostics (MSKEY) program. While in the MSKEY program, hit several keys to make certain that they are the same keys that are identified in the MSKEY window.

Tips & Warnings
Clean your keyboard regularly to keep it free of dust and debris.

To start MSKEY in Windows Vista, select "All Programs>>Accessories>>Run" from the Start menu. Type "mskey" in the box and depress the "OK" button.

Start MSKEY In Windows XP by clicking on "Run" from the Start menu. Type "mskey" in the Open box, then hit "OK." Depress either "PS/2" or "USB" to apply it to your type of keyboard hookup.

Don't disassemble the keyboard because it may affect the validity of your manufacturer warranty.

MSKEY software is only available with Microsoft IntelliType version 1.1 or later.
Good luck. If this helps please consider giving me a good review.
Thank you and good luck

Periodically my enter key stops working and I have to restart to get it working again.

There could be several reasons for this issue.

Reason : 1 Could be a spyware messing up with the keyboard. Use an anti-spyware to detect and cleanup.

Reason : 2 This could also happen due to X-Win 32 7.1 Version.

Upgrade following the below steps.

Upgrade to X-Win32 V8

Modify your keyboard map in X-Win32 7.1 or earlier:

Open X-Config’s Input tab

Click Edit… to edit the keyboard layout

Click on the Enter key (which may be labeled as Ent)

Click in the box labeled Unshifted which should have a value of KP_Enter

Select Keyboard -> Keyboard 8 -> Return from the popup menu

Save the keyboard map and restart X-Win32

I have an old Dell Latitude cpx H and I have a weird keyboard problem. I have already changed out the old keyboard but the problem persists... or should I say problems. There are blue function keys on the...

1. this could be due to a loose flex cable to the keyboard and the motherboard.
2. It could be due to a malfunctioning keyboard assembly
Usually it is the latter.

No mouse or keyboard input

Do you know how to enter the bios, some notebooks are different, but try hitting the delete key on power up, if not then look at the bottom of the screen it will say hit f12 or f11 yo enter bios, once in, you can go to the page that lists your usb ports, there yu can enable them or disable them, you navigate in the bios by using the arrow keys, and the esc, to exit or the enter key to open a highlighted heading, try that first and if that's all it did then you should be ok, make sure you save your settings by hitting f10 and enter on the way out, and good luck, if you need more help I'll look in on you when I get a chance

There are a number of utilities with that function. I ran into one, Winkey Killer, at www.nonags.com. (At least, I assume that is its function.) also, this may help: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/input/w2kscan-map.mspx
