I turned my laptop (presario v6000) off by just pushing button and then put it back on but said by safe mode. I then logged out as normal, but now it will not even turn back on. The three blue lights just flash and nothing. Help what do i do

    Please post additional information:

Where are the 3 blue lights located?

Do you see anything on the screen? (Compaq logo... Windows Logo etc.)

Do you see any error message or hear any beeps when the computer starts?

When it let you boot into Safe Mode what did you do? Did you make any changes to system?

Anytime a computer is shutdown improperly you risk loosing data and possible currpting system files. If it let you boot into safe mode orginally you SHOULD be able to get back into safe mode IF further changes were not made to the system and you shut the system down properly from Safe Mode. Any additional information you provide should help better diagnois the problem.

Try removing the battery and using just the power adapter, some laptops wont power on if the battery is bad.

Try hitting F1 as you start it and see if you can get into the bios and reset everything to defaults.

then restart it and see.

My laptop compaq presario v6000 does not switch on but the power light comes on when the chager is on. when i try to turn the computer on it just flick the light on then back off. can anyone yep me to

The DC pin on your laptop is bent/broken/loose. Look at where your power adapter plugs in on your laptop. Get a paper clip, bend it out to make a long paper clip and slightly push its tip on the pin inside your laptop. If the pin moves chances are either the DC pin needs to be soldered down or needs to be replaced. The part is usually cheap around $10 but the labor can cost more than $50.

Good morning. My Compaq laptop (Presario V6000) is freezing on this screen when booting up: "Windows is starting up..." It has no battery life, so it's always plugged in. Please help. I have...

You can try booting into safe mode to see if there is a problem with a program/driver/setting in windows. First shut off the machine completely. Then after the first logo screen goes away start tapping F8 about every second until you see a new menu screen. It will have options like Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, etc. Use the arrow key on your keyboard to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Then hit enter. You may have to hit enter again to select your operating system, but usually it just flashes text across the screen then comes to the Welcome screen with Administrator and your username. Click on your username to log in. Click OK on the warning message that pops up, it just explains safe mode. Try opening word and your paper, and see if you can work. If so, then you need to figure out which driver or program you recently updated, and roll it back or uninstall it. If you need further help let me know.

Daughter reset my password to log on and forgot what she put I can't get into the laptop now.

Restart your PC, and hit the F8 keyboard button over and over You will
enter the Windows Boot Menu, Once there you will have different choices,
choose Safe Mode with Networking. Windows will start in Safe Mode.
Then look for the default Administrator account, the blank password should be correct, If not attempt to use admin with no password/ possible admin for the user and password. It should boot in safe mode where you will be able to edit your original account under, Start > Control Panel >
User Accounts and Family Safety!

Best of Luck!

ACER ASPIRE 5532 LOCKED UP, WON'T GO PAST THE "ACER empowering people" logo at startup. press f2 and it says "please wait" then won't do anything else. Pressing f12 to change start-up...

1. Turn the Laptop off 2. Remove the battery 3. Disconnect the AC adapter from the laptop 4. Disconnect any peripheral devices from the laptop such as printer usb cables, PCMCIA cards etc. 5. Push and hold the power button for 60 seconds then let go 6. Connect the AC adapter to your laptop 7. Push power button to turn on the laptop 8. If this resolves the issue shutdown the laptop connect the battery and turn laptop back on
If issue is not resolved restart the computer and begin tapping the F8 key repeatedly until you see a screen that gives you options to enter different modes. Highlight "Safemode" and press enter. If the computer boots completely into safemode you likely have a driver that has corrupted or a hardware device that has failed. Likely driver failures are video card drivers. Got to Device Manager and uninstall the video card driver and restart the system. You can do this with other drivers as well.

Can't access laptop computer in safe mode, keyboard freeze up

Try booting your system from a LIVE cd like linux, a verson of Hiren's tools, or the UBCD (ultimate boot disc for windows). If your keyboard still freezes with the alternate OS, you may have a hardware malfunction.

Hi ,you should only get that if you're not shutting down , does the laptop turn off when shutting down ?

The other thing is when starting up, it has a problem talking to a device driver therefore putting itself in safe mode,

goto the following to update the drivers etc.

You should start tapping the F11 key right after you turn the laptop on. It should go into the recovery mode, and you can select either a windows recovery (saving your data) or a full destructive recovery. If you feel you have picked up a virus, the destructive recovery is best, as this will put the laptop back to like new, out of the box condition.

FBI GUI MANGER???

Boot up into safe mode by turning off your laptop, turn it back on then continue to hit F8 until you get a option to boot into safe mode. Once logged in
Go into msconfig and disable RUNFBI then reboot the machine, that FBI gui **** runs from a APPZIP folder on your C:. Delete that folder. You can get to msconfig by clicking on the start button, go run, then type in msconfig, go to the start up tab then uncheck the RUNFBI and click apply ok then restart.

Once you've disabled the RUNFBI your laptop should run like normal.
