Question about Bose Lifestyle 30 System
I have the new bose V30 sysem I have an issue where when I connect a sky satelite box to the v30 system via optical (sky only transmit 5.1 dts via optical) and then connect video via hdmi. The hdmi downscales sound to pcm 2.0 :-( if change video to component it works! but i lose out on picture quality on HD broadcasts as I have a full HD screen.
system is actually bose V30!!
There are different qualities of HDMI cables. one that is a version 1.3 will not be able to properly transmit as well as a version 2.0. digital transmission is only as good as the conduit that it must travel through. if you loose quality it might be because your asking your wires to carry more than it can.

Use the component. If your tv is running correctly it should not lose quality through the component system. HDMI is simply a High Def Multiple Interface, meaning that it combines the Visual with the Audio signal in the same cable. Refer to your documentation on your sattelite box to see if there is a solution. But remember that the HDMI may be carrying what the actual broadcast sound is as not many if any channels are transmitted in 5.1 dts.
