Question about Tascam US-122 USB Audio/MIDI Interface Sound Card

1 Answer

Scratchy sound I upgraded from XP and Cakewalk Music Creator 2003 to a new computer with Vista and Cakewalk MC4. I updated the drivers for my Tascam US-122 to be compatible with Vista. I am able to record, but on playback, the sound is scratchy. I've tried everything in Cakewalk and suspect that it's a problem with the Tascam US-122.

I just downloaded the vista drivers because the old computer died and the new one came with vista. Not only is the sound scratchy, but it keeps freezing up in cubase, and it won't record at all in sonar 7. I'm going to have vista taken off and xp loaded....

I couldn't find any drivers available for Windows 7. However, you may be able to run it in 'Compatibility Mode'

See: How to run in compatibility mode Windows 7

My firewire suddenly stopped working!!!

I had the same problem after re-installing windows. The firewire just didnt work on the tascam interface. I managed to solve the problem by upgrading from windows xp to windows vista. I downloaded the vista drivers from the tascam site and everything sprang back into action. Problem solved! Hope this helps.

TASCAM US-122 Will Not work with XP PRO "Can't find Us-122 Driver

The drivers for XP Home should work with XP Pro, but there is a 64 bit version of XP Pro, and I believe that may be your problem. You can try downloading a new version of the driver at:;9,15,68,19.html

to see if that fixes your problem. It's under Software and Firmware, Vista and XP driver 3.40. that device is considered a "legacy" device by the manufacture, so any more driver updates are unlikely.

you might want to downgrade to xp because vista uses alot of ram to run it. you could also get more ram. you need about 1gb and a half to 2 gigs to run most recording softwares and interfaces. i personally use vista cause i lost my xp disk and i got 2 gbs of ram and everything runs great, but if you really want to get into recording do what im doing and save up and buy a mac.
