Pioneer vsx1021k volume drops by itself at 3db increments until there is no volume. M volume is displayed when this happens as if someone was manually turning the volume knob.

Dirty rotary encoder (volume control ). If you are confident with opening the unit yourself, a spray of contact cleaner into the encoder might help. Ideally u should replace it.
OR
The volume minus button on your remote is dirty/shorted. Try removing remote control batteries and see if the issue disappears.

My volum buttom on remote wont up/down the volun

Read this procedure to possibly fix the remote:
http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?
a=Display&contents=help_deadremote&uuid=A12963989782821
They also sell replacement remotes.

Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.

or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

I just bought a Coby home theater system 5.1 surround sound dvd/cd/ player model#765. I've got it all hooked up but I have one problem, when I want to listen to my tv stations through the home theater...

Hi - Your Home Theater System and your TV should have separate volume controls. You should be able to control each individually. Start by checking the volume level on your TV with your HTS shut-off. Turn the volume on your TV all the way down to 0.

Next, turn your HTS on and check the volume level there. Is it still loud? If so, try turning the volume down on your HTS. That should do the trick. If its not loud then you know you can control the volume on either the HTS or the TV. If this answer does not help, then please write us back with a little more detail. Thanks.

Sugden A48, one channel keeps cutting out. Sound restored by increasing volume but at low volume goes again.

The volume control may need to be cleaned. Find a spray cleaner made for electronics, relays, ect. and spray it into the volume control from the back side of it where it connects into the circuit board. After getting the cleaner into the volume control, work it in by turning the control back and forth over and over again. Do all of this with the power unplugged from the unit. After you finish cleaning the volume control, plug it back in and turn it on and then check to see if it is working normal. Volume controls can get oxidized and dirty after a few years and require cleaning. I hope this helps, let me know if you need any further help.

Intermittend no audio from digital inputs, flicker video monitor out, volume goes up but not down

Since the problem appears only after the unit has been run for a while, I'd be looking for any part close to a heat source. The odd behavior suggests that there is noise on the data lines for the volume control chip and the digital processing areas. Look for a bad 5V regulator +/or bad caps on the 5V line. Also check for poor solder connections in the power supply and final output stages.
Keep us posted.
