Hi there. Have you been able to test the power supply, or plug in another to check that it is operating ok. Let me know how you go.

regards
Graeme

If the power supply turns out to be ok, it is worth checking that the DC input jack is ok. They fail commonly on this series of Laptop. Either the soldering to the DC socket or the Socket itself may be the issue. Visual inspection of the soldering, and continuity checks with the board exposed may be the only way to check this. If you want to go further, I can give you step by step instructions on doing this. Get back to me here.

    regards

Computer does not boot up
The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.
Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Hi there ..my dell inspiron laptop making horrible siren frequently during startup or when i attached the pendrive..what is the problem??

It could be the CPU fan with worn bearings.
It could be the CD/DVD drive but only when the laptop boots up.
Connecting a USB pendrive should not start this noise as there are no moving parts in the pendrive.

Doesn't recognize password

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/

I have a NEC Lavie L LL550/3 that doesn't read

The CD and DVD reading portions of the drive use different sensors, so it's possible it would stop reading DVDs but still continue to read basic (audio) CDs.

The question is, will the same, working audio CD work while booted up fully?

If it does not, it may be a matter of a driver problem; unfortunately drivers cannot be found online for this model. Check this thread and make a post or comment to try to find someone who may have the drivers you need.

Windows XP booting slowly and audio skipping??? Help!!

Hello,

First to start with, you have to increase the RAM of the laptop, that is what mainly controls the speed of a laptop,or any other system.

If you can also change the hard disc to that with a higher gigabyte, that will also help.

You should also get an external hard disc for storing files.

make sure you dont have too many files on the system if not the system will be excessively slow.

try this and you will realise your system will be in good condition again.

take care
