Restoring the original audio driver quickly resets audio sttings for the sound harware and causes windows to reinitialize the sound configuration. The driver recovery process in the HP Recovery Manager restores audio drivers for the sound hardware that came pre.instaled on the computer.
Reinstall original audio HP Recovery Manager:
Click Start, type recovery,Recovery Manager,Permission to open, click Next,No,Next,Yes,Next(Welcome hardware). Click Next,Select Sound Driver,Next, wait for original reinstall audio driver, click Finish. Voilá Volumen for you!

There is no sound coming from the computer speakers. I have dowloaded drivers to no avail.

plug in headphones to see if you get audio... Audio Controller Could Be Faulty..

Try Uninstalling the Audio Drivers from Device Manager, Reboot

Last resort, Reinstall windows

If still no audio, It's most likely the controller chip which is integrated on motherboard, Highly doubtful that the speakers themselves are bad...

No sound

Have you tried an external output from your laptop i.e connect headphones . If you can hear something then the drivers are properly installed. If not then more likely the drivers have been overwritten by SP2 and u need to install original drivers from laptops website. Check under Control Panel - sounds and audio then see what device is under your sounds playback.
