A blue screen indicates that there is no signal to the set. You didn't say how you're supply signal, but you need to check your connections and make sure the set is looking at the correct source.

I turn on my Mitsubishi WD-73833 TV and it turns itself off

Lessing of brightness on a DLP set is a sign of imminent bulb failure.

A new bulb is in order.

My rear projection TV has color spots in the picture, most noticeable on light color picture

What is the make and model of TV. If it is a Panasonic that has different colored spots such as pink, blue etc. Then you need t6o contact Panasonic as this is a memory reset that they have to perform on the LCD driver board. Other brands of LCD projection sets that have spots that appear all over the screen mostly on white back rounds are almost always dust that has settled on the LCD panels. This requires a technician to clean the LCD panels if possible.

Blue screen

The tech form Sony is right. The blue CRT has an intermittent short and if the TV is more than a few years old, replacing all three tubes may be necessary. The cost is prohibitive. I see a LCD flat panel in your future.

No picture on my tv, a polaroid flm-1507

If you are still getting Sound, then most likely the bulb has burned out, (If you have a Rear Projection set). If it is a flat panel LCD, then the problem could be the electronics that power the fluorescent bulbs in the back of the LCD panel. Those bulbs will last about 10 years or so, but the electronics, (like the balast & amplifier), could have died. Please check your Cust Service Manual that came with the set & look for your symptoms, and that should help. Either way, a qualified TV tech will need to check it out.

Check out the fixYa solution for the Samsung LNS4051D- it sounds like the same problem. Defective capacitors. You may need different part though.  We just fixed my mom's LNS4051D with that problem. I have the LNT4665 and although it hasn't failed yet, I am tempted to get some capacitors just in case.

Sony WEGA LCD tv has a blue haze on the screen as well as blue specs. Can this be repaired?

I had the same problem (w/o the blue specs). Sony extended the warrentee on this issue to the end of 2008. But hurry since I am not sure on that. They offered to fix it for free or sell me the latest flat panel ($2,500 at Best Buy) for $850. I took the flat screen since this problem will probably come back even after the fix. Also, they let you keep the old TV.

Check unit by shining a flash light into screen to check for image. It sounds like you have a bad inverter board.

those are going to be dust spots on the LCD panels internal to the optical engine. i suggest that you take the screen off and take off the panel i nthe middle of the tv with 2 screws in it and there will be an area that has 3 metal fins covering thin orange ribbon cables. the 3 square objects at the end of those ribbon cables will be the LCD panels spray wiht air compressor unitl clean and that should greatly help your problem.

This is likely a bad light engine. or so I'm told by the LG electronics. The cost of the part can be as much as you paid for the set itself. Call customer service and let them know of your problem and then ask to escalate the issue. LG electronics, although not admitting fault, tried to find a service rep but eventually bought back my set at a pro-rated amount. Overall, I was very satisfied with their support. Best advice I can give you is to not buy a rear projection set again, LCD or DLP. Lamps are expensive and design is unreliable. LCD flat screen is your best option, in my opinion.
