No way don't do that use windows media player in sync mode and once it comes up double click the device name in the left hand options box under the libraury tabs once it accesses the albums simply rigt click after you highlight what you want o delete and click dlete andin a matter of second it's all gone or if you want to erase teverything completely simply use the format option and it will erase everything and it will be formated to your media settings and to get songs off the deviceonto to your computer rite click and click add to sinc list and once you press sync on the bottm right hand side it will upload to your computer's wma files it's just that simple

You should have a reset button on you device.. my best suggestion was to try what i mentioned earlier but you can also do a hard reset.. look in your manual if you don't find it but there should be some sort of restore option.. i hope this helps, sorry, i just haven't heard from you so i figured i better at least provide another solution.. good luck..d

OK well you may be able to recover these file by using an Un-erase program.. Usually when "Windows" deletes something it doesn't actually "Delete" the entire file, no... usually it simply removes the first letter of the file name and replaces it with a non-displaying character.. Say File.MP3 would then be ?ile.MP3. So try one of the proggies here---> http://www.dirfile.com/freeware/unerase.htm
There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer
itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up
erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as
new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override
the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be
reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware
upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites. WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or
FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right
click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to
Windows-based computers. You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself: Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media
Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath
the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking
on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of
Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select
"Format." - this should erase everything. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
