Lines while taking pictures

My camera has lines while taking pictures and it shows in still. The video is ok and it shows no lines. I want to get this problem repaired and am hoping it doesn't cost the Earth to fix but if there is an easier solution from one of the experts here I would greatly appreciate it.

When I downloaded to PC it does show the lines so I'm sorry I don't want to "live" with it. And like Jackboy said it probably is considered "disposable".

Hi, same problem with my QV-R51 camera. When i take still pictures there are horizontal lines. The camera worked well till yesterday. My camera is just two years old, i hope that the Casio engineers are not putting this bug after the end of warranty to sell new still camera. In the picture an example of indoor shot with horizontal lines. Outdoor shuts are worst.

Hello,
The issue with the images is caused by electronic noise from the shutter control magnet.
This part is not avalible seperate and the complete lens would require replacing, (unless the service centre has wreck cameras with other fault and can take the shutter unit from the wreck lens)

Sorry for the bad news :-(

Check the down load situation and iff your image editor can fix
As the video appears OK this looks like a firmware glitch
With this type of camera unless under warranty-[where it will be replaced] there would be no repair option I feel
Much of this type of kit is considered 'disposable' like much small electronics/electricals

You don't say whether the images, once downloaded, have lines. If not, then why not live with it? It would cost a Jupiter moon to fix.

Does these pictures have the lines when you transfer them to a computer? If so,, than it is likely a capacitor needs to be changed out which is causing the interference. If it does not show up when you transfer them, than it may just be the review program on the camera.

Lines across still pictures - but video ok

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Wavy lines on photo's

Check if it is a dirty lens problem.

If lens are ok, then is either the camera optical sensor defective or a fault in camera main board.

You will need to take your camera to a computer shop or to send it in for repair.

You can call the number listed on the camera user manual to get repair service.

If camera is less than one year old, it may be covered by factory warranty, check warranty terms.

Image in LCD shows mulitple horizontal whie lines

This sure looks like a CCD image sensor failure. If so, you can't fix this yourself. If the camera is less than a year old, Canon will fix this for you under warranty. Call 1-800-OK-CANON.
