Using a small needle their should be a hole in the front. This is the safety eject hole that will open the drive 99% of the time. Replacing the drive is just as easy. remove the few screws on the bottom of the laptop nearest the drive and grasp ahold of the bay and slide it away from the computer....hope this helped some....
If the display is ok on an external monitor, then the problem is probably a bad tab board (tab welds) and the lcd will have to be replaced. If the external display is the same as the lcd then the inverter board or video card is bad.
