HP Pavillion Entertainment PC

My sound doesn't work, but if I plug my headphones in the sound is fine. I don't know if the speakers don't work or if there is some stupid switch that I'm not seeing. I have the quick touch/quick play buttons and they don't make noise anymore when I touch one to increase the volume, decrease volume, etc. Please help!

I have no sound out of my laptop. And I used to be able to hear with the earplugs.

Sound is gone, in all ways. I sent it in, they said that I needed a new sound card. Now trying to find one.

My speakers aren't working unless I have earphones or external speakers plugged in. Otherwise, I get no sound. The mute touch button at the top of the computer is red which makes it appear to be muted but when I touch it, nothing happens visually. If I plug in my speakers and touch it, it toggles between mute and unmuted. I've checked the settings in the Sound folder in my Control Panel. Everything is set for sound there. Can you tell me what the problem is?

I have the exact same problem! I can plug in my earphones and the sound come from them perfectly fine.
But, the laptop's own speakers just don't work.
I have no clue how to fix it. ):

hmmm..ok...then you may have a bad sound card, or a bad port for the speakers

I just bought Bose Companion 2 speakers which I don't know how to connect to my HP Pavillion desktop PC. The pdf instruction booklet does not help. There are multiple jacks (6) at the back of the tower...

You need to connect the speakers to the green jack in your PC.

Check your system sound volume setting to make sure it's not set to MUTE or the volume slider is on or near the lowest position - you don't specify what system you have on the PC so I can't give you an exact pointer but Volume Control generally is found under Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment.

Please come back and rate the solution if helped or post a comment for further assistance.

HP Pavillion dv6110us Speakers not working

The sound power comes through a ribbon cable to the power button, along with the power supply switch wiring. This "power ribbon cable"( part # 431437-001) has frayed where it connects to the motherboard.
The new cable will cost you about $5 with free shipping on ebay and takes about 10 minutes to replace.
You can find step by step instruction on the repair by searching "dv6000 power ribbon removal".

My sound on my HP Pavillion Entertainment PC doesnt work anymore

Try downloading this (The audio driver)
If that does not work, go to control panel and to "Audio devices and sound themes", Right-click on a empty spot in the window that pops up, and choose "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconncted devices", if you see a icon that is called internal speakers or speakers..something similar. You have to right-click it, and choose Use as default.

Laptop speakers problem

There are 2 volume control buttons on the laptop. 1 turns it up 1 turns it down. Try turning the volume up. It may be up high enough for you to hear with headphones but now loud enough to be heard through the speakers.
