My sound doesn't work, but if I plug my headphones in the sound is fine. I don't know if the speakers don't work or if there is some stupid switch that I'm not seeing. I have the quick touch/quick play buttons and they don't make noise anymore when I touch one to increase the volume, decrease volume, etc. Please help!

most system has seperate audio ports for the speaker and the headphone but they are interchangeable. try plugging the speaker on the audio your using for the headphone. if your already using the same audio jack then try using another speaker, but since you mentioned that the headphone works then its possible you might need to replace your speaker
The sound power comes through a ribbon cable to the
power button, along with the power supply switch wiring. This "power ribbon cable"( part # 431437-001) has frayed where it connects to the motherboard. The new cable will cost you about $5 with free shipping on ebay and takes about 10 minutes to replace. You can find step by step instruction on the repair by searching "dv6000 power ribbon removal".
Try downloading this (The audio driver) If that does not work, go to control panel and to "Audio devices and sound themes", Right-click on a empty spot in the window that pops up, and choose "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconncted devices", if you see a icon that is called internal speakers or speakers..something similar. You have to right-click it, and choose Use as default.
hi, if nothing(even hp logo ) is not coming on the display then please try this. 1.remove the battery and then press the power button for 30 sec.Again refix it and check. 2.If windows sound is there then this mught be the issue with display.
3.If there is no windows sound might be the issue with RAM so please get it checked.
Check when you plug in the headphone the laptop speakers get off or not also see the audio configuration under control panel sound that you choose digital sound or its having channels system like 5.1 or 7.1 channels you have to configure it to headphone
