Question about Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with 28-80 lens 35mm Film Camera

Rebel 2000 went retarded

My Canon Rebel 2000 EOS has been working great since I got it a few months back. Today, however, pressing the shutter release button activated the shutter but it stayed closed. The display claimed dead batteries, so I went and got some new ones. Same thing. Then I noticed that if I did anything (press the shutter button halfway, switch modes, flip open the built-in flash, the display came back to life and claimed full battery. In all my probings the flash never fired (open in manual or auto modes). Does anyone have an easy, you-have-the-thinger-set-to-stupid solution?

How do I go about collecting on a debt that a big company owes me and are basically just ignoring me and stating that they do not pay for what they did not recieve. All my methods to get my money from this company, PHARMALINE, I seem to walk into a brick wall. They are just ignoring me, the debt collecting firm I have asked to try and get my money also say that they are also ignoring all correspondence from them. I have been to small claims court but they say they are unable to help because I am a CC. They advised to go to a lawyer and open a civil case, I cannot afford that as I dont have such funds to claim a debt for R2584.00

I got a Rebel 2000 off ebay, and it had the same problem. The Shutter wouldn't open, it showed dead batteries, and the mirror hung until I pressed the shutter button or changed modes.
After a good deal of surfing, I found that the most likely reason was a sticky/oily shutter
(http://photonotes.org/articles/oily-shutter/).
Since I didn't have much $$$ invested in the camera, I tried cleaning the shutter curtain with Qtips and alcohol. After a little cleaning, the shutter started to move. After a lot of cleaning, the shutter moves freely. I ran a roll of film through it, and it seems to be working just fine now.

I had the exact same problem with mine. Did you figure out what the issue was?

EOS 600D in manual modes shutter gets stuck. I have to press the shutter button again to release it and take a picture. Help

Hey there,
I had the same problem, until just a few moments ago. If you have the Magic Lantern installed (just search YouTube, and you'll get some easy instructions), go to the intervalometer, and start the shooting. Then stop the shooting, and the camera should work again.
I wont guarantee anything, but it worked on my camera.

How do I use my time-lapse function, Does my camera have one?

There is no tme lapse function on the 400d however a search on ebay can come up with some 3rd party electronic shutter releases which have time lapse function fitted. Most are from Hong Kong but dont be put off I have bought lots of theses 3rd party accessories (battery grips, off camera flash cords, remote shutter releases etc) and all work faultlessly. Here is one of many.I do not own this one personally but I have several items by the "Yongnuo" company and they are great.

Shutter don't stop halfway

Yes, there is a small 2-stage micro switch that needs to be replaced. 1st stage is permanently pressed and not switching/returning back due to so many time it's been pressed.
It just time. Switch is right under top cover.
