It might be worth checking the ribbon cable for the top screen is tight in the socket on the main board, this could explain why the screen gets back to normal when you close the ds then reopen. The ribbon cable for the top screen is in the hinge on the left side of the ds when open, the only way to check this is to take the back of the ds, to do this you will need a small philips screw driver and a tri-wing screw driver which you can get of ebay quite cheap. The worst possible fault is the top screen is faulty and needs to be changed, if you do a search in youtube you will find videos on how to do this, they are good and quite detailed. hope this helps.

My ds lite just switched off and it was charged

Hi, so if you try switching on the ds lite, nothing at all happens ??
Does the green light flash even if it is for like a split second. If it does then it is more likely top be a blown fuse. If 1 of your screens flicker also, this could be your problem as the ds will not start up with a broken screen. Please advise

The top screen of my Nintendo DS Lite keeps flickering

Hi,

This is most likely caused by either a loose connection or a faulty screen.

If it's under warranty i'd suggest sendng it in otherwise you can either take it to a local repair shop or repair it yourself.

Firstly when you take the ds apart disconnect the top screen and then re-attatch it just to be sure if its the connection or not, if a re-connection works then your sorted... if not you will have to replace the screen.

The screen can be bought from ebay. You will also have to do a bit of soldering as the speakers will need to be removed from the old screen and soldered onto the new one.

If you need any more help with changing the screen then give me a message and I will do my best to help you out.

DSI lite top screen keeps going black

The top screen is worked by a strap thru the hinge, it looks like you may have damaged it, if you look on the internet you can but a replacment screen with the strap, you can also get instruction on how to do it and what tools you will need, if you dont think you can do it, their are places you can get it fixed, just look on the internet.

My ds lite had an image flickering problem, will it get worse?

eventually, it may get worse. If you are at all inclined. you can replace the bottom screen pretty easily if you wanted to. The top screen is pretty hard to do if you dont have soldering skills.

This will require a triwing screwdriver and a replacement screen.

Good Luck

My son's ds won't turn on

Was the DS dropped? Sounds like the top screen ribbon has become disconnected from the motherboard, or is broke. You may have to replace the top lcd screen.

NINTENDO DS LITE POWERS ON AND THEN IMMEDIATELY OFF

The system powers on, then performs a system check. The DS is finding some sort of error More than likely the top screen was damaged. I've been told that the screen that flickers is usually the good screen. The bad one doesn't flicker because it's damaged. You can replace the top screen yorself (if you're fairly handy), or you can pay a professional to do it. You can get new screens from Dealextreme.com for around 10US dollars, with free shipping. You can also find videos about how to change out the top screen on youtube. Hope this helps

DS lite, power is on but nothing happens

Ditto... except my daughter is 10. Both screens remain black, are fully charged and green light stays on for more than 4 minutes.

DS Lite has red lines in top screen?

It could also be running fluid from the screen's gel padding. I doubt that, though... It's best to buy or order a replacement screen. It's actually not too expensive and is not too hard to DIY. The problem with that, is it's really easy to accidentally break something while opening up a DS, especially the DS lites. Another problem is, you need a triwing screwdriver to open up the DS, which can only be found online. So, if you don't want to buy anthing online, you should just ask gamestop or something to repair it for you. It'll come at a price though...
