Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Where does the powder go?? Sound silly i knoe.

I have just purchased a HAIER by LEMAIR benchtop dishwasher off good ol EBAY. however no instructions or manuals came with the unit and seller will not return my emails since feedback left. Anyway, where in the world do i put the powder/tablet. On the inside of the door there is a little smooth cutout, but if i close the door anything i put in there will just fall to the bottom. A friend suggested it just goes in the bottom and when the machine fills up it will do its job?? However there is a little pocket at the back corner, a bit out of the way for powder, but maybe it is. Can anyone shed any light for me? Also.....there is a drainage grill in the bottom with what looks like a heating element under it, the grill though only just sits in place, it seems that when the machine will fill this grill will just float out?? Im guessing its there to catch food. but wont do any good if it floats off every wash. Is this how its suppose to be?? will it float off??

Your friend is right, I usually just use a tablet and put it in the dishwasher and close the door. No the grill will not float out, it is to catch the food, for easy removal when dishwasher has finished its cycle.

My mugs and dishes are not coming out that clean and the inside of the dishwasher looks dirty after the clean cycle has run

Try this first..
Go to your local Walmart and purchase a bottle of dishwasher magic.Follw the instructions on the bottle to clean the machine. in some cases this may take several attempts to clean out all of the hard water deposits...
Then use a product called Lemishine (about 1/2 full in the main wash receptacle and other half detergent) with a good powdered detergent this solves this problem 90% of the time.
If this does not help then further investigation would be required. Look for broken or damaged spray arms or anything the may be causing improper water flow.

Hi, My Bosh lifetstyle dishwasher purchasedin Dec. 2010 is just about 10mm to high to insert under kitchen benchtop. Is there a way to remove the top of the dishwasher because then it would...

If it is a brand new dishwasher you should not be making any alterations to it otherwise it can affect the warranty.

Best to call the company representative and ask.

I have just purchased a second-hand Sercon Quickwash benchtop dishwasher. Is it possible to get operating instructions for this? The type No. is CB 2405050-6 and serial No. is 8350144.

Congratulations, you've just purchased one of the most indestructible dishwashers ever made. I ought to know, as mine is 35 years old, used at least twice daily and still going strong after only the addition of a door switch pushrod seal, a heater element and a water level switch in that time, although now on its third plastic door. They were often used commercially in labs for cleaning test tubes, etc. as the components were able to take the chemicals and punishment. Alas the plastic doors eventually crack around the hinges and need replacing but are no longer available so treat yours tenderly because if it cracks and can't hold water your dishwasher will be a boat anchor. You don't need an instruction manual, although I have one. Just use Finish dishwashing powder(no I don't own shares) and no rinse aid (the rinse aid dispenser is at the back and a pain to fill anyway and not necessary because you're using Finish remember?). Click on the water/waste pipe connector to the sink tap fitting, turn on the cold water, fill with dishes, sprinkle a capful of Finish powder over them, close the door and turn the timer clockwise ONLY to the Start position (about 1 o'clock) and wait about 20 mins til its finished (timer at about 11 o'clock) Then open the door to let out steam and aid final drying. All this with the toggle switch on 'normal' (and power plugged in and on of course dummy), although you can use 'economy' position for a few dishes or drink glasses, remembering that dishwashers will eventually turn glassware milky with that blasting action (ie not mum's best crystal) The Sercon Quickwash is a mighty mouse but noisy as it's not insulated around the single skin stainless steel cabinet and if the usual suspects aren't careful with bones, pips, stones, etc the waste pipe can become blocked, usually at the fitting near the tap and the cycle may stop with water still in the dishwasher. If it does, undo the hose and check for any obstructions, clear and restart. Farewell dishmop until the fateful day that plastic door cracks.

Just bought home with Kenmore dishwasher. Know

Do you have the operating instructions for your dishwasher. If not, open the door and there should be a manufacturer's badge on the inside of the door somewhere. Find out what model machine you have. I can help you find a manual online.

A couple of general tips for your info.

  • Wipe or rinse excess food particles from dishes before you stack them in machine.
  • Stack neatly and spaced apart to give better wash results.
  • Make sure dishes and pot handles are clear of the sprinklers. Turn sprinklers by hand and make sure they dont hit against anything.
  • I prefer using dishwashing tablets as they are a measured amount. Best not to use too much soap or powder.
  • If you are using powder, use rinse aid along with it.
  • Dont put your crystals or good wine glasses in the dishwasher.
Hope this helps somewhat.
good luck.

The washing detergent is not released

Hi, I have this same unit and the same thing would happen to me too. I discovered that it was my dishes that were getting in the way of the detergent door. I'm sure you're are, but make sure that all your plates/bowls, etc, are pushed far enough back that they don't interfere with the poorly placed detergent door.
