Yes, it only prints half of he picture even when I try a test print.

No it is a couple of years old. I see that Kodak has refurbed printer docks for about $54. I noticed that this has happened to a lot of other people. Is it a design flaw?

Kodak EasyShare Printer dock prints bottom half of picture. I have changed the ribbon and paper and still want print

  • Anonymous May 12, 2009

I have the same problem (only ~1/3 of the picture prints, lengthwise) on a Dell 540 photo printer, which is a rebranded Kodak/Alps printer (same as the ones being described here).

Very low use, didn't use it for a few months, then tried to use it and got half pictures.

These seems to be a defect in the design. Of course, no one at Dell will give me the time of day since it's out of warranty...

Canon selphy printer only printed half the picture

No it's not a worn out print head. That is incorrect answer. It will be the plastic pawl broken that pushes down the print head to the ribbon on that side of the paper. Is a very common fault with these little printers after they age somewhat. The plastic deteriorates with time. See this useful video with suggested fix using super glue.....

Only printing bottom half of all the lines, recently changed the ink but dont think that is the problem, any ideas please?

Hi Denise,

This is not because of faulty ink cartridge or faulty printer. You need to uninstall and reinstall the printer software. this issue will be resolved

Epson 800 Artisan printer was bought 2 years ago and I just opened the box set up the printer and it displays the following message. "An error has occured. Turn off all power. Check for and clear the...

I cant take credit for this fix, but it worked on my Artisan 800 with the same error. My error occurred right after a paper jam where i had a tough time removing the paper.

"Open the printer. See a 1/4" grey plastic band that is attached to the
print head. This is the CR (carriage return) guide that tells the print
head exactly where it is. During a paper jam it is sometimes pulled out
of the slit on the head carrier that it has to be in to tell the print
head where it is on the carriage. Pull the print head out about half
way, and with a flashlight look behind the head carrier. You will see a
small plastic u-shaped piece. Make sure the CR ribbon is INSIDE the
slit, or u-shaped device. When this happens you will usually hear the
print head hitting the side of the printer twice while it tries to
determine its position. Be very careful not to damage the ribbon. It
will slip back into the slot quite easily"

My print head didnt want to pull out, so i took a small inspection mirror and had a look behind the print head. Sure enough the ribbon was outside of the sensor. I easily pushed down on the ribbon gently with my finger and pulled it towards me just a little bit and it popped back up into the slot. Closed the printer up and no more message.

Hope this helps some other poor soul.

Prints black and white fine, but when printing color photos, wrong colors are used and/or only half the picture is printed. The second half sometimes comes out on the next sheet of paper. Nozzles aren't...

The color printer might not print in color due to dirt and other unwanted particles present in the printer. Due to this unwanted particles, the ink used for printing and other materials might become blocked inside the printer device and this might lead to some printing issues. In order to resolve this issue, regular cleaning of the printer is necessary.

Prints only top half of picture

Can you print anything from WORDPAD or MSPAINT or NOTEPAD? try printing a website. if it continues to do this, then it could be a paper sensor on the printer, and that means, a failed printer.

Only half of picture is printing

I have the same problem where only the bottom half of my photo prints. It worked fine for a long time. I even tried flashing the printer up to the 2.11 firmware version from 1.90 - still nothing. Changed paper and cartridge. NOTHING. Tried attaching it to both my PC & MAC and even print stand alone picture from camera and a SD memory card on the side. NOTHING.

I think the problem is with Kodak... My trouble started when I decided to move my Dock Printer from PC over to MAC. The new drivers have you flash the Firmware. To do this, you first must hold down the Print and Red EYe Button (The button directly to the right of the big print button) with the power cord unplugged and then plug it in holding the buttons in for 2 seconds afterward.

This put the printer into Edit mode and allows the firmware to upgrade the printer. Once I did that, THAT'S when my problem started. I think these crappy printers can NOT self calibrate and they must be factory set. Most likely, they need to do it at the factory themselves and are all to happy to charge you to ship it off and do it for you.

What a POS.
