Pioneer VSX-D903S

posted by Nichocar on Feb 27, 2008

For the life of me, I can't figure this out. My Pioneer VSX-D903S tunes in AM stations in increments of 9. I am trying to pull in AM 740 out of Toronto, Canada but the tuner only tunes to AM 738. If I try to dial the multi-jog, the next AM station that comes up is AM 747. I have taken the receiver off of station call. I have read every page of the manual, but can't find an answer. I tried pushing just about every button to try to tune by increments of '1' , but have been unsuccessful. I have emailed Pioneer, but have never received an answer. Other than that, I love the receiver. I bought it off a friend who wanted to buy something else. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Nick

I will double check, but I don't think this is the international model. I think this one was sold in the USA.

Accordianman, you pointed me in the right direction. This is an international unit. I have reset the deemphasis switch and unit seems to be better, but I have another question for you. The unit is set for 110VAC but I have 118VAC coming out of the socket. (I checked with a digital VOM). Should I reset the unit for 120-127 Volts? Unit seems to have been operating okay. Please advise.
Thanks,
Nick

Thankyou very much Accordianman. Like I said, I bought the unit from a friend who must have been in the service. The unit was set for 110VAC and was being used this way. It doesn't appear to be harmed. However, I have moved the switch to 120-127 VAC.

Okay! This set was apparently set up for use in Europe, according to what you've described to me. The fix for the AM/FM tuning increments(whic is what you call this feature) will be found in the Pioneer service manual under "procedures". There typically is a jumper or solder bridge that needs to be moved/ established in at least one section of the MPU.
Voltage selection needs to be set to the greater range to help prevent input transformer failure....accordianman
