Well, technically yes, but the cost is generally prohibitive. It is NOT a do it yourself job. (must be certified to work with refrigerants, have the specialty tools, and know what you are doing, and then it's still a lot of work and $$$)

Afb910 freezer not freezing

If the refrigerator is not defrosting, the defrost control board might be defective. The defrost control board monitors several conditions and determines how often to run the defrost cycle. If the board fails, the refrigerator will not go into the defrost cycle. Eventually, ice will build up on the evaporator coil and then the refrigerator and or freezer will not stay cold enough. This will depend on where the evaporator is located. It's prudent to check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity before replacing the defrost control board. If that is not the problem then the coil might have a hole in it and needs repair and coolent rechrge.

Why does my camper freezer have rust all over?

Probably condensation building up inside from running hot, cleaning out the coils with one of them dusters or vacuuming the coils (underneath the unit on some models or on the back of some models of refrigerators and/or freezers helps them to run cooler and to avoid that rust. With our pets I have to clean our freezers coil every 2 or 3 months.

I have poked a hole in my freezer unit while defrosting and the gas escaped. Can the hole be repaired and the gas replaced?

Yes it can, but you are going to need special equipment. Such as a vacuum pump to remove the air, Touch to repair the hole or replace the evaporator that you poked the hole in. Along with a set of gauges and refrigerant.
This is not a job for the average DIY'er and even as a pro I only repair sealed systems (leaks, compressor, etc..) if they are under warranty because it's a time consuming and costly job other wise.
If the refrigerator has any age on it then you may want to start shopping around for a new one.

While trying to remove built up ice poked hole in freezer letting all the freon out

This requires system repair, replacement of drier, triple evacuation, and weighed in refrigerant charge.
May also need to change the compressor oil depending amount of moisture absorbed.
This is a timely and costly method which must be performed by EPA Certified Technician.

Why would the top and sides of small chest freezer be warm tot he touch

Some freezers have the refrigeration condenser coils located in the walls of the freezer as opposed to a dedicated coil and fan. This is why you should never drill into a freezer or cooler cabinet to install hinges or make holes for draught equipment.
In order for the door opening to not freeze around the gasket, freezers have a low wattage electrical heater installed and this is probably the heat your feeling on the door.
Hope this answers your question

Lost manual and need to defrost

This is likely a manual defrost freezer, which means you have to remove the food, unplug the unit, and let the ice melt on its own. Do not, and i repeat, DO NOT poke the ice away from the walls. I guarantee if you poke the ice away from the wall, you'll poke a hole in the wall, and force yourself to buy a new freezer.

SLOWER IS SAFER. put some boiling water, in the pot, inside the freezer, or use a hair dryer.

Gibson Upright Freezer

Is it a self defrosting? Or not? And how did you defrost it?If you scraped and chipped the ice away, you may have poked a hole in the evaporator and the refrigerant (freon) leaked out.

Water pools at bottom of freezer, freezes and water leaks out

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove bottom shelf from fridge and remove the styrofoam..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance.
