On power up of the video camera a message [NO CARD] pops up,then when i come to press the red button to record footage another message pops up[IN CARD POSITION] please can anyone advise me with solution many thanks

my canon MV600i will not play back recordings. The screen shows a warning light flashing red to say that there is a problem with the memory card. The thing is - the MV600i does not have a memory card! Models higher up the 600 range have them. Is there a way to reset the camera? thanks

SOURCE: Not able to record the image

I had the same problem. Called Canon tech support @ 1-800-828-4040. Was told it is a problem caused by a chip going bad, and that Canon will repair my camcorder free of charge. They send you a couple of emails. You fill out the form, mail your camcorder off for the repair. You should get your ZR85 camera back in about two weeks.

Canon writes at its website Malfunction: It has been confirmed that the connecting parts of the internal wiring of the CCD used in affected products may become disconnected, especially if the affected products are stored or used in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. If this occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD normally in Shooting Mode, which may cause a distorted image or the absence of an image. This malfunction can be confirmed on the LCD monitor screen during shooting. The same malfunction also appears on the recorded image. Canon's Response: Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Canon will repair, free of charge, the products listed above exhibiting the above-mentioned malfunction if Canon determines that the malfunction is caused by the CCD image sensor. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair. U.S. residents are kindly directed to contact the Canon Customer Support Center for further assistance at 1-800-828-4040. Support hours are Monday thru Friday - 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight; and Saturday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (all times EST). Alternatively, if electronic support is preferred, please send your email to

SOURCE: in card position

check the SD card and see if the little tab on the side of it is slid to the position that says "lock" If you cant see the words, try just switching the tab to the other side. Since SD means Secure Digital, these cards wont do anything if the lock tab is not in the right position.

Here is the manual you can see online or download. You can put into a computer using a firewire. (IT SAY FOR A PAL - Not NTSC But everything should be the same, just a different way to record)

Canon mv500i, how do i link to sony bravia tv?

You can connect the A/V output of the Camcorder to the A/V inputer(Yellow, REd and White) to view the recordings on the TV screen. Once you connect the Camcorder, playback the videos and select input using INPUT/TV/VIDEO button.

I have just bought this second hand and it came with out a manual. I have down loaded the manual but find it difficult to understand. It has a multi media card plus a small tape, it seems like you can not...

If you do not have a tape in the camera it will probably be a tape warning.

If the camera records video to the card it will be a low resolution compressed format not ideal for video production.
You are best to use tape if you wish to have good quality video and/or edit your footage.

Have just inherited this digital camcorder. Want to record video onto card rather than tape so bought a new card today. Tried to use for the first time but on pressing the record button I get a red 10...

Well, you failed to tell us the make and model of the camera so I can only give you a generic answer. New cards must be formatted in the camera. Video requires a fast card so it can keep up.

Trying to play off-camera stored video, when replaced onto SD card in camera

Did you change the file name on the original video? Are you able to put the video back onto the camera? If you changed the file name, you can't put it back onto the camera. It also needs to be in AVI format which is the video format that the camera records in.

Hope this helps!
