Samsung DLP - Model HLR4667WAX/XAA

I have Samsung DLP which is in a loop where it tries to start but unable to. I have to remove the power to turn it off. Below is the approx. sequence:

Lamp light comes on - blinks 15 seconds
Goes to Standby for few seconds ( like it is trying to start itself )
Restarts again
In continous loop.

It could be you color wheel try to go bad, however when it does you will lose the picture. If you can repair or fix a computer you can change your color wheel if it goes. Cost Appox $100 you can search by your TV model #

Good Luck!

Samsung, DLP TV 50 inches Model # HL-T5075X/XAA

Samsung just told me they wouldn't fix my tv because it was produced in Nov. of '06 and the only ones they would fix were made in August of '06 or earlier. I am way too angry right now to call the service tech number they so very nicely provided.

This TV is horrible. I have the same one and not even a year replaced the light bulb twice. Very disappointing for a Samsung.

Loud humming noise and color is off

It does sound like the color wheel. If you can get your hands on a service manual it wouldn't be too hard. You have to remove light engine take off a couple of plastic pieces to get to the color wheel housing. 2 screws and 2 plugs to remove it.

46" Samsung DLP Lines & Freeze up

This is a possible fault in the power supply, and can be a problem with some decoupler caps on some of the boards. The vertical bars and unstability are usually attributed to having high frequency noise and or clocking pulses crosstalking on to the power distribution lines that run through the boards. This can be switching power supply noise, or cross-talk from clocking pulses.

Another thing that can cause your described fault is unstable clocking between the devices that are reading and writing to the data busses. There are a number of data busses running through the set for the boards to be able to communicate with each other.

The tech will use the process of board swapping to service the set, and then do the adjustments as necessary to make sure the new boards match up.

Yes... DLP sets are fairly expensive to service!

This is my personal opinion. If the set is out of warranty, I would change for a Plasma or LCD set. If you compare the performance of these to ther DLP, the difference is very big. From what I am seeing from a service point of view, the DLP's are lower in reliability.
