Look underneath the small door for two small openings to get a screwdriver into, pops right off!

Water dispenser does not work

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

The ice works off of a different solenoid than the water dispensor . So , I would suggest this action : At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . GSH25KGRWW dispenses ice/water all by itself! Heard noise last night, and refrigerator was dispensing ice all over the floor!! Attempted to stop by tapping the lever, but this had no effect; pushed water...

as you explained that by opening the freezer door the problem stopped the problem is: that you have a pinched dispenser wire or, two in the area between the door and, the door opening
these wires are low voltage so they are not going to cause a fire
but, if they touch the cabinet due to a bare wire they will ground and, start running the dispenser.
the door cover needs to be removed and, the problem (usually at the door hinge must be found and, corrected i.e. wire taped, shielded etc.

Amana Refridgerator Freezer, French Doors

Most side-by-sides have a length of hose at the bottom of the freezer that send the water to the ice maker and water dispenser. take the back off so you can see this hose, there may be a kink in it, or a clog.
