Memory inserted Wrong side

Hi there

A friend of mine with a Medion Multimedia Computer with P4 Sockel 478B has actually made it to Insert two Memory Modules on his Computer but one of them the Wrong side. He said that those things on the side closed well but however he was not sure he tried to start the Computer and it went on but no Boot Process, No Beeps and no Image came up. He shut it down and after looking closer he finds that one of the Ram Sticks was inserted the Wrong side.
After he tried everything inclunding the old Working Memory Modules but allways the same Result: No Image, no Boot Process, No Beeps and the Power Light on the Front of the computer doesn't light up with the computer anymore.
Is it possible that this could have done any damage to the Mainboard?
What could be damaged? Is it possible to Repair?
I tried to change the Graficcard nad the CPU for Him but with the same result.

Please any Help would be very Welcome.
Thank You

Regards

Peter

Unfortunately the memory socket has probably been damaged. An experienced electronics technician might be able to replace it, but the board could easily be damaged by the replacement work. It would probably be best to replace the motherboard in this case.

Bent contacts in the damaged socket are probably shorted together which can disable the board....or some of the power supply circuitry could have been damaged as well.

How do I download my movies onto a memory card on medion lifetab

Hi

If the pc has a card reader built in insert your card into the relivant slot and then you can just use computer / My computer to drag and drop the files from the PC to the card.

If you don't have a card reader you will need to buy a card reader that plugs into your USB socket, then you can use drag and Drop to copy the files

Need to install memory on a veriton Z290G desktop but dont know how to open the computer

1 Turn off your computer and all the peripherals connected to it before
opening it. Then unplug all cables from the power outlets.

2 Place your computer on a flat, steady surface. If your computer is in the

vertical position, rotate the plastic stabilizers and lay your computer on its

side.

3 Turn the screws counterclockwise to release the cover.

4 Hold the sides of the cover with both hands.
5 Slide it back about an inch and then gently lift it upward to detach it.

6 Remove the side panel.

7 Locate the memory DIMM socket on the mainboard.

8 Press the holding clips on both sides of the memory DIMM socket outward

to release the memory DIMM (a). Gently pull the memory DIMM out of the
socket (b).

9 Align the memory DIMM with the socket. Press the memory DIMM into
the socket until the clips lock onto the memory DIMM.

The memory DIMM sockets are slotted to ensure proper

installation. If you insert a memory DIMM but it does not fit easily

into the socket, turn the memory DIMM around and try to insert it
again.

10 Align the cover's hinges to the housing frame; then gently push it in to

slide it back into place.
11 Secure the cover with the screws.

(Take note be carefull to insert the memory on a proper way, it might burnt the card once you have wrongly insert it.) Hope it helps. THanks

Hi, I have a dell dimension 5100. I inserted a 1gb ram but it was the wrong one. I took it out and replaced it with the old ones. Now the computer doesn't boot properly - turns on but doesn't load...

Remove all the memories and insert them again, make sure you insert them in the proper way as the slot is keyed.
Memory issues can be identified by the beep sounds.
If you have more than one memory, remove one and insert only one of them and try to boot.
Hope this will help.

How do i install memory modules in a dell dimension 3000

Hi,
This is Gabriel here . Please follow these steps to install the memory:

Lay the computer on its side so the system board is on the bottom of the inside of the computer. If necessary, remove a memory module: Press out the securing clip at each end of the memory module connector.

Grasp the module and pull up. If the module is difficult to remove, gently ease the module back and forth to remove it from the connector.

To insert a module, press out the securing clip at each end of the memory module connector.

Align the notch on the bottom of the module with the crossbar in the connector. Insert the module straight down into the connector, ensuring it fits into the vertical guides at each end of the connector.

Press firmly on the ends of the module until it snaps into place. If you insert the module correctly, the securing clips snap into the cutouts at each end of the module.Replace the computer cover.

Bios Set

hai, Harish
your problem seems not BIOS related.
The problem is that some of your installation is not completed.
If you have the XP CD, insert it and complete the installation.

For changing the BIOS setup, just after switching on the computer, press DEL or F2 (refer motherboard manual for the correct key) to start the BIOS utility program to start.
Be careful before changing anithing in the BIOS.

Memory inserted Wrong side

Hi

When you insert a memory wrong side and try to boot the computer, there are chances that it may damage the motherboard. Also it may or may not give any beep sounds.

You may try booting up the computer without any RAM sticks in the slots. If you do not get any beep sounds, then it is definitely an issue with the motherboard.

Once you do that, take the computer to a local technician or you manufacturer service centre and get it checked.
