Question about Canon MV700 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

In Camera mode, only streaky vertical lines visible on screen

When the camcorder is in Camera (record) mode, all that is visible in the viewfinder and LCD screen are a series of coloured narrow vertical lines that sort of represent the image. This is also what is recorded. Playback of previous good recordings are perfect. Camcorder is about 4 years old. HELP!

Its a fault with many of the canons,
they have NOT recognised it,
but you can get it fixed free by a third party company
(cant remember off hand which one soz)

Funny how they do it for free,
as if canon are paying them so they dont have to own up !!!

Vertical lines

If the lines appear on the tape this way when it is recorded, then the CCD unit is going out on the camcorder. If it isn't recording the lines then the viewfinder wiring or screen is damaged.

You should problably take it into a camera shop to see if its worth fixing.

Fuzzy vertical lines on display, viewfinder on recording

This problem may be due to a malfunction of the CCD image sensor in the camera. It is defective in this model and canon will repair it for you at no charge. Here is the link to their service notice. You can call the 1800 no in the article and they will send you a form along with a ups label to send the camera to them.

Hope this helps:)
