Question about Panasonic PV-DF2004 20 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo

Horizontal line on screen

OK, here's the deal. My Panasonic first started flickering as if the cable was having probs. It wasn't the cable input ! Now the picture tube has started blacking out while leaving just a very small horizontal line in the middle of the tube. A sharp rap fixes the problem but not for long. Is the thing dying or is there a easy fix ? thanks horizontal line in the scream

The most common problem would be a bad solder joint on the vertical drive IC. It could also be a bad solder joint on the flyback transformer, as it supplies voltage to the vert. stages. If you disassemble the set, please be careful not to get shocked. Discharge the high voltage stages as a precaution.

How to connect a Panasonic PV-V4520 vcr to a Samsung digital tv UN32EH5300FXZA

Hello.

If your Panasonic has RCA and S-Video or even a SCART sockets then that is not necessarily old technology but still useful to view old VCR tapes. The TV is or may be the problem. As I don't have this Samsung TV model, I can only make a suggestion from past experience, as I used to be a cameraman/movie maker. Look at the rear or side of the Samsung TV. If you see RCA, S-Video or SCART outputs, aside from other outputs, such as HDMI 1 or 2 and also the laser output, but these are the least of your concern. Normally, VCR tapes are standard VHS, unless they are S-VHS, this format can only be viewed via RCA cable. If your TV has RCA INPUTs, not OUTPUTs, plug a good RCA cable, Yellow, Red, White in the INPUTs of the TV and then plug the same colours in the Panasonic OUTPUTs RCA sockets. Switch both devices on and then on the TV, press the Input button of the TV Remote and scroll the feature where it says VCR or RCA (most TV's have a picture of the 3 cables plugs) This is a bit tricky because as I said I don't have a Samsung TV so, I can only suggest what a VCR input would look like on the screen. Once you found the right input, press the OK button on the Remote and the screen should either turn black or is ready to display the video from the Panasonic. Press play on the Panasonic Remote and see if the film appears. In most cases, it's a simply straight forward operation. If the video tapes are of S-VHS, then you can still view both but if you had connected the S-Video cable instead of the RCA, you'll get a better picture quality, colour is more controlled and sharp. Alternatively, you could save all your old VHS movies, weddings, events, whatever you got there, by converting them to DVD yourself, so that the picture quality remains the same. You need a powerful computer, Windows 7 or an i5 or i7 would do better. You need a 1394 digital video capture card, also called firewire. Most older computers have it already installed, XP, Vista and early Windows 7. There are special connecting cables that are plugged at the rear of the VCR and the capture card, where one end is a firewire plug and the other can be either a stereo type plug or an RCA plugs. The choice is yours, but who doesb't want to save precious memories on DVD?

How to fix the screen looks like a line in the middle of screen for panasonic top dome 21 tv

If it is a horizontal line in the middle then it is possibly an IC which is responsible for the vertical scanning or the supply source to the IC. Please remember that the auto-shut function in the power supply prevent the screen from further damage. And if the line is vertical then it is a simple fault and all you need is to re-solder one spot related to the malfunction.

14 inch monitor starts to show horizontal lines

This is most likely due to pixel degradation. There is no easy way to fix this problem but some have had success with using a pencil and a towel and lightly massaging the screen through the towel with the tip of the pencil.

Picture on my Panasonic PV-DF2700 flickers and then there's a blue screen. Cable company says signal is going to TV. Is the TV history?

Hello, the tuner could be ready to go out entirely, but you can still view your cable TV through your Auxiliary input jacks(video/audio colored jacks) most of the cable boxes ave these outputs in the rear all you need is the RCA cable(yellow/red/white) and select the video input you want to use. The other solution is to replace the tuner. You can order one through www.partstore.com or directly from panasonic at their website www.panasonic.com.

My Panasonic 27" Omnivision TV set (PV_C2542) flickers intermittently until I jiggle the cable conection into a new position. Sometimes the TV image goes off entirely and appears as a blue screen....

your tv set need parts Resoldering.
intermittent color changing is cause by cold solder joints.
have it serviced by a reliable electronic repair center or person.
you should not be charge a lot.

if you wish to fix it yourself,
you need a Soldering Iron (about 60watts) and soldering Lead (60/40).
air blower (for fast Cleaning) or
[1inch paint brush (for cleaning)]
unplug and place your set to your work bench then open the back cover.
(since you say its old, expect lots of dirt/dust inside your set, use the blower for easy cleaning).
if you have completely access of the solder side of the circuit, just resolder the joints. BE CAREFUL... DO NOT CONNECT SEPARATE JOINTS.

if you don't have experience with electronics i advise you have it to a repair person.

hope this helps you!

I only Get Channel 3 and a blank screen that says LINE

Under the menu setup, set it to cable (not "air")and do the search again. If there is a button on your remote that says input, push that first before trying this. Might save you some unneeded steps. Good luck.
