Major job to disassemble this unit to clean it. I recommend a qualified Sony tech to do this. With great care and a very sharp ended blade the from protective shield can be cut off, but the Sony two sided tape is no longer available. So it should only be done by complete disassembly.

Replace Lamp Flashing

Clean the cooling fans, specifically the lamp cooling fan located inside the rear cover, above the optical blocker. This is easily blocked with dust and causes overheating of lamps/shortened life.

This sounds like an issue with the optical block assembly. Sony had a problem with this part in a lot of the KF-series television.

They extended the warranty of optical blocks in the KF-42WE620, which doesn't help you but from what your saying this sounds like the issue.

thought I would let you all know of the recall.

    For models:
    Models: KF-42WE610, KF-50WE610, KF-60WE610, KDF-70XBR950, KDF-60XBR950, KDF-42WE655, KDF-50WE655, KDF-55WF655, KDF-60WF655, KDF-55XS955, KDF-60XS955, KF-42WE620, and KF-50WE620.

/This is a free repair on the optical block/engine. For specifically a road mapping issue. (Where there is sparactic grouped lines on the screen of the TV)

Otherwise there is a full recall on all 50XBR1's and 60XBR1's for ANY video issue.
But the bullentin I do have on that is Confidential due to the amount of claims SONY could recieve. But here is a sample of the bulletin.

    Models: KDSR50XBR1, KDSR60XBR1

Subject: Optical Block: Warranty Policy and Part matrix by serial number.

Resolution: As part of Sony’s commitment to quality, Sony is announcing that it is extending the limited warranty (parts and labor) for optical block replacements on the models listed above until October 31, 2008, regardless of purchase date. Authorized servicers should follow the normal process for warranty claims for this issue.

    60 " SONY KF60WE610 screen went greenish

Depending on when you bought this TV, this could be the lamp. Does the red light below the green light come on? (That's the lamp light). This light typically comes on around the 3rd year of use for an average individual. I've recently enountered the same problem and will try to replace the lamp myself. Apparently its very simple.

Sound but no picture, tv will not turn off. Light goes red but a dim overall blue screen remains and fan is still running.
