Hotpoint WMA34 machine nasty smell ? partial bloc

We have a Hotpoint WMA34 machine. It is starting to smell nasty/mouldy when you go to use it - we have never found a bottom filter on it - I also think it is not spinning as dry as it was - ? partial blockage (tissues or accumulated crud) - is there a filter? How do we access it? I wondered if we could in meantime run a wash with bleach to help kill the smell - what do you think?

Hi if you pull your machine out so you have access to rear then you can remove the bottom panel using a screw driver. This will then give you access to the sump pipe, using either a pair of grips, or screw driver/ depending what fitting you have, you can remove the clip holding the sump hose in place,You may find that this is where you are likely to have a blockage.be sure to place the ball back into place after as this acts as a non return vaulve. while you have this pipe off it may be worth just taking the pump side of the pipe off to ensure the pump is clear. Also make sure all pipes are on secure when replacing clips.

This is usually because there is water in pump which does not get drained over time. Leave the porthole door open from time to time to let the odour out. Make sure the laundry drain backflow has not dried up causing sewer smell to come through.
Run the washing machine empty using a packet of cleaning agent available from supermarket. see this site

Hotpoint aquarius wma34 washing machine - flooding and clicking

Sounds like it could be relatively expensive to put right.
Personally, I think you would be better in investing in a new washer, more so in view of the fact that is 7 years old.
There are numerous possibilities for the symptoms you describe.
Hope this helps you to come to a decision.

Control Module WMA34

If my memory serves me well, the plugs/wires will only fit the correct spots on the module, and I believe there is a "jumper" on the original module, make sure you remove and install in the new module..Good Luck

Machine smells mouldy- washing stinks!

Find out where your filter is; it is at the end of the thick hose coming down from the bottom of your tub; open up and clean out. Another possibility is there could be something stuck in your drum, feel if you could locate it. Next clean out the hoses in machine. After all this flush out with a hot wash, without clothes. People shd ask the service man where the filter is. If he knows that is.......................It gives you the biggest problem if you dont check.

SMELLY WASHING MACHINE

A mouldy smell is often a sign of trapped residual water stagnating somewhere in the machine often just inside the door seal at the low point or in the filter.

Providing there is nothing like a old sock trapped in the pump or filter then there is not much you can do other than to dry the door seal and powder dispenser after use.

Hotpoint Aquarius WMA34

there is a small access panel in all front loaders.  there is probably a coin stuck in the compartment.  this will stop the water pump operation correctly
